The Ghent Playhouse Announces Auditions for MRS. FARNSWORTH, A COMEDY BY A.R. GURNEY, Directed by Cathy Lee-Visscher.
 
Auditions will be held January 18 & 19 at the Ghent Playhouse, off RT 66 Ghent NY.  Sign in is at 7:00 pm with auditions starting at 7:30 pm. 

PLOT:  
Margery Farnsworth, a very proper, well-educated Connecticut wife and mother signs up for a creative writing course with the intent of penning a tell-all about our last president, George W. Bush, with whom she has presumably shared a shady past.  Although she doesn't have much written, she provides enough dirt about her so-called "fictional character" to shock and awe her teaching assistant, Gordon Bell, and fellow classmates, who adamantly encourage her to continue her efforts.  Enter Mr. Farnsworth, her husband, who is initially seen as villainous in obstructing the sordid truth from being exposed, but who then offers his own perspectives on what is really happening, including possible lapses of reality in his wife's mind. 
The play illustrates that drawing the line of demarcation is simply not that simple, good and evil don't fall neatly on one side or another, and the right thing is not merely black in white. 

CHARACTERS:
MRS. FARNSWORTH - A prim and proper middle-aged suburbanite.  A rich, high-living Democrat with socialist leanings trying hard to distance herself from her exclusively lily-white upbringing, while plopped solidly in the upper crust class. 

GORDON BELL - Late 20's - 30's.  A sardonic, harried part-time writing instructor and a knee-jerk liberal.

MR. FARNSWORTH - Middle-aged husband of Mrs. Farnsworth.  A staunch Republican; charming, yet intimidating; very protective of his wife

AMY NEEDLEMAN - A young college student (18-22)
RICK COSTELLO - A young college student (18-22)
JANET SANCHEZ - A young college student (18-22)
