Improv Workshop: Saturday January 7th 1-4pm  

This class is designed for 10-14 years Improv Theatre Improvisors turn
audience suggestions into exciting theatre on the spot! In this special
workshop participants will learn the secrets of improv through hands-on
games and exercises. The afternoon will cover all the skills necessary to
become expert improvisors. A great workshop for any aspiring actor,
comedian, dancer--actually any young performer---all will find ways to
enhance their ability to perform naturally and spontaneously in front of an
audience. A fun, useful afternoon!   

Michael Burns Bio

Michael Burns The Artistic Director of the Mop & Bucket Co.,Michael has
specialized in developing new theatre pieces with youth for many years, for
Capital Repertory Theatre, The American Folk Theatre, Very Special Arts,
CAPTAIN of Shenendehowa, Shenendehowa Advocates for Gifted Education, Home
Made Theatre, and Steamer 10, among others. Also a painter, Michael teaches
Studio Art and Video Technology at The Charlton School. He lives in
Schenectady with his wife and professional partner Kat Koppett.

Audition Techniques Workshop (2 days) 

Friday January 13, 6:00-8:00pm & Sunday, January 15,12noon-5pm

 

Don't let auditions get you nervous!!!

Whether you are preparing for your next audition or just want to develop and
practice good audition habits, our Audition Techniques Workshop will get you
ready to put your best face forward!

Participants will receive instruction and individualized feedback in the
areas of singing, dance, and cold-readings.  Additional instruction in
audition etiquette and proper resume composition will have you confident and
prepared to present yourself as a true professional.

Space is limited in order for personal attention to be paid to each
participant.

Stage Combat  Monday (Martin Luther King Day) Jan 16th, 1-3pm

Stage combat instruction teaches skills of collaboration, control, rehearsal
technique, partnering, goal setting, presentation and evaluation. From prat
falls to swordfights, a simple push to an intricate battle, students will
learn safe, repeatable techniques of physical comedy and drama. All
instruction is approached with an emphasis on safety and technique,
emphasizing the importance of acting as the primary tool with which to
create the illusion.

Theatre Institute at Sage 

David Bunce, B.F.A., A.E.A., U.U.P., S.A.F.D.: Teacher/Artist-in-Residence

David Bunce is a Teacher/Artist-in-Residence with the Theatre Institute at
Sage. David was a Teacher/Actor with the New York State Theatre Institute
for 27 years and has been an adjunct Professor at Russell Sage College for
19 years. He has performed in London's West End, Off Broadway, Moscow,
Sweden, Italy, the Middle East and in film, television and on radio. Writing
credits include the screenplays Incisions, Learning to Fly and Gasoline and
Lightning, and a stage adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe's The Fall of the House
of Usher. David holds a BFA in Acting from Central Connecticut State
University and has taught and choreographed stage combat at SUNY Albany,
Capitol Repertory Company, SCCC and Upstate Independents. He is a proud
member of United University Professions, Actors Equity Association and the
Society of American Fight Directors

Sunday January 22 1-4pm

This workshop will include but not limited to: How to get a job in
television, how do you prepare, how to behave in front of the camera,
importance of diction, eye contact, tape review and more. This is a rare
opportunity to learn from the professionals. Class size is limited.
