[Capdist-auditions] Sanctuary Sci-Fi Short Film Auditions on Tuesday 5/31!

    Production is moving forward on a new science fiction short film here in
the Capital District area and actors are currently being sought for all of
the key roles.  Those wishing to help with crew roles are also highly
welcomed.

This is a passion project and a resume piece, and because no money will be
made from it, these are all unpaid roles.  It will be submitted to some
niche film contests/festivals, but your reward for helping will come in
heaping doses of gratitude from the filmmakers and from taking part in
creating something that has the potential to reach millions of people.

Having always been a fan of science fiction including Star Wars, I thought
that making a film set in a Star Wars universe would be challenging, fun,
and leave a pretty indelible mark if done right.  But I didn’t want to make
some cheesy fan film to go with the thousands of other examples of youtube
fodder already out there.

*The first round of Auditions will be Thursday, May 19th from 7-10PM in
Troy. Please contact us if you are interested in signing up for an audition
block or if interested in helping out in some other way. **

The following roles are needed:

 *Arden Lynn** *- Starring / FEMALE / 25 TO 45

Arden Lynn was born into a life of relative wealth and affluence. She was
sent to the Academy at a young age to learn the ways of the Force. Arden was
always a bit of an outsider because of her privileged background.



After Xendor's death, Arden was left without direction. He represented a
giant part of her life and without him to lead, she is forced to fill in
that gap. Arden has yet to fill that hole in her life, and is unsure about
stepping into the role of leadership that Xendor once held. She is hesitant
because she feels that she is nowhere near as good a leader as Xendor had
been.



Deep down she knows what she must do, but she is suppressing that feeling.



*Xendor** *- Starring / MALE / 30 TO 55

As a child, a visual that stuck with Xendor is that of his parent(s) being
beaten and him being too young/defenseless to do anything about it. This
affects him when later on in life when he sees a situation very similar in
which he is compelled to help the victim. He is told not to, but he might
just do it anyway.



This is when Xendor starts to question the Jedi way. He knows he has all
this power and wants to use it for good, but he feels like the Jedi are too
bogged down with Dogma and tradition instead of viewing the universe around
them.



Having discovered this alternate side of the Force, Xendor starts spreading
his ideas to others in the Academy who, after learning of this, bans him
forever.



Xendor begins recruiting others to his cause and the Jedi become wary. After
a few heated encounters, Xendor kills one of the Jedi who was threatening
his student. The Jedi immediately begin pursuit and start hunting down
Xendor and every one of his followers.



He begins his relationship with Arden and falls deeply in love with her. A
part of Xendor is regretful for bringing Arden and the others into this
situation, but he sees her strength and her spark.



While encamped on the planet Antar 4 their group is ambushed and Xendor is
mortally wounded in the ensuing battle. It is in his final words that he
urges Arden to lead the group to the Yavin moon to find the Sanctuary.



*Tiva** *- Supporting / FEMALE / 14 TO 18

Xendor found Tiva attempting to pick his pockets while in a marketplace on
Tatooine. Xendor took sympathy on the girl and decided to bring her back to
the Academy.



Tiva had been orphaned when she was two and learned to scrape out a living
in the harsh desert world by stealing and picking pockets of unknowing
travellers.



Xendor saw a bit of himself in Tiva and took her under his wing. Tiva became
enamored with Xendor and believed them to be destined for each other until
Arden began a relationship with him.



She eventually forgave Arden, and silently mourned Xendor's death which she
took extremely hard. Being caught up in the Scourge, Tiva is searching for
meaning and someone to lead her.



*Dalen** *- Supporting / MALE / 25 TO 45

As a Jedi Scout, Dalen had always been something of an enigma. He was always
the best at what he did, able to reach a level of focus that few were ever
capable of.



Not much is known about Dalen, as he had always been a creature of few
words. His solitary nature earned him the nickname "Drute" after the race
known for speaking 100 words throughout their entire lives.



Xendor quickly befriended Dalen after he saved him from a group of bounty
hunters outside of a Coruscant bar.



During the Scourge, Dalen chose to join Xendor and fight with his group.



*Furl** *- Supporting / MALE OR FEMALE / 20 TO 28

A bit of an introvert, Furl never thought himself to be particularly good at
anything until Xendor showed him his true potential. A bit of a scrawny
youth, Furl was initially rejected by the Academy before showing his valor
during a fight with a Rancor by Xendor's side.



Generally the type who doesn't speak unless spoken to, Furl found an
unlikely friend in Sen, who represents something of a polar opposite to
himself.



*Sen** *- Supporting / MALE / 20 TO 28

Negative by nature, it is extremely difficult for Sen not to worry about the
circumstances surrounding his life. His pessimism was scolded constantly at
the Academy and his enrollment was even threatened until Furl convinced the
Elders that he should stay.



His friendship to Furl mirrors that of an old married couple, with constant
bickering and seeming bitterness. Sen's negativism is balanced out by Furl
who is always ready to shoot down Sen's arguments with a bit of optimism and
clarity.



Sen would never admit it, but he could never really live without Furl as a
friend.



*Eezo** *- Supporting / MALE / 25 TO 40

An expert in history and linguistics, Eezo was always at the top of his
class at the Academy. However, he always felt like something of an outcast
until meeting Xendor.



Xendor taught him to use his emotions to connect with his world.



Eezo was quickly placed into the role of military strategist once the
Scourge began. He still tends to follow his logic and mind more than his
heart.



*Isonde** *- Supporting / MALE / 20 TO 30

Always being drawn to the mechanical side of everything, Isonde is
constantly tinkering with metal, circuits, and anything technological that
he can get his hands on. He has a strange idea of a lightsaber hilt that
could power two blades at once. He's what we would call a grease monkey.
Somewhat clumsy.



*Dessh** *- Supporting / MALE / 30 TO 40

Isonde's older brother, Dessh has always tried to be the responsible
sibling. Dessh is always looking out for his younger brother who seems to
find his way into trouble by not taking the time to look up. Dessh prefers a
quiet life but never quite finds the time to relax.



*Ja'al* - Supporting / MALE / 28 TO 40

Bred to be a warrior, Ja'al's physique is in great contrast to his humorous
and lighthearted nature. He has never been particularly intellectual but a
loyal partner and friend to anyone who meets him.



Generally mistaken as being a "dumb brute," Ja'al is actually quite smart
and can hold his own in any conversation. He is an invaluable asset in
battle and his physical prowess is unmatched. A Hercules with a heart of
gold.



*Raena** *- Supporting / FEMALE / 30 TO 45

A Jedi who was once good friends with Xendor back at the Academy. Xendor
eventually confessed his feelings for Raena who rejected him knowing that a
Jedi should never love another.



Reluctantly, during the Scourge she was assigned to track down and eliminate
Xendor and his group of Rogue Jedi.



*Jaran** *- Supporting / MALE / 35 TO 50

Somewhat of a dark figure yet highly revered amongst the Jedi. Jaran is
highly methodical and precise. Rarely showing mercy, Jaran is the idyllic
Jedi recruit who quickly rose up the ranks of the Jedi Order.



He hopes that after this mission to eliminate the Rogue Jedi, he will be
granted Master status and granted a seat at the high council.



*EXTRAS*- Supporting / MALE + FEMALE/ 20 TO 50

Various Extras and Background Actors are needed for the battle scene which
includes Jedi and Dark Jedi.  Must be physically capable of running and
swinging a “sword” and able to look ferocious.
