With the holidays fast upon us, it's never to soon to plan for your next audition! 

 

SCHENECTADY LIGHT OPERA COMPANY (SLOC) ANNOUNCES
FUTURE AUDITIONS FOR  FIDDLER ON THE ROOF*
 
Auditions for FIDDLER ON THE ROOF directed by Laura W.Andruski will be
held on Monday and Tuesday, January 2 and 3, 2012 atSchenectady Light
Opera Company, 427 Franklin Street, Schenectady.  Registration will begin at 7pm.   
Callbacks, if necessary, will take place January 4th.  The musical director is
Elizabeth “Cookie” Sears and the Choreographer is SaraFittizzi, who
also serves as producer. Production dates are March 16-18 and March
22-25, 2012.  A large,diverse cast of men, women and children will be
needed. Those auditioning should prepare to sing 16-32 barsof music
from a Broadway show (no pop or rock) and bring sheet music.An
accompanist will be provided. No monologue necessary.  Selected actors
will read directly from the script.  There will be a brief dance
audition as well, so please dress accordingly. Rehearsalsbegin Monday,
January 9, 2012.
 
FIDDLER ON THE ROOF is a musical with music by Jerry Bock,lyrics by
Sheldon Harnick, and book by Joseph Stein, set in TsaristRussia in
1905. It is based on Tevye and his Daughters (or Tevye theMilkman and
Other Tales) by Sholem Aleichem. The story centers on Tevye,the father
of five daughters, and his attempts to maintain his familyand Jewish
religious traditions while outside influences encroach upontheir lives.
He must cope with both the strong-willed actions of histhree older
daughters—each one's choice of husband moves further awayfrom the
customs of his faith—and with the edict of the Tsar thatevicts the
Jews from their village.
