The Ghent Playhouse announces Auditions for:

Urinetown – The Musical
The Ghent Playhouse announces an additional audition for the January/February production of the Tony Award-winning Urinetown – The Musical.  Tuesday, November 1st at 7pm at the Playhouse.  Please prepare 16 bars of a Broadway show tune or similar standard (accompanist provided).  Readings will be from the script.  We are especially interested in male actors between 22 and 29 years.

The setting is a dystopian land where society is suffering from the rampaging effects of ecological devastation.  But with dancing!  Water in this world is so scarce even public toilets must be regulated by a dark and omnipresent corporation, perhaps more powerful than any government ever.  (No, not Starbucks.)  Unless the downtrodden can rise up for their restroom rights, wayward water wasters should expect but one fate: banishment – to Urinetown!

Hope Cladwell (20s) – Fresh-faced and captivating idealist, determined not to follow in the footsteps of her father…

Old Ma Strong (40s-50s) – Just what her name suggests

Mr. McQueen (20s-40s) – Cladwell’s right-hand man

Officer Barrel (20s-30s) – Lockstock’s left-hand man

Senator Fipp (30s-50s) – A senator

Hot Blades Harry (20s-30s) – A poor man

Soupy Sue (20s-30s) – A poor woman
Tiny Tom (teens-20s) – A poor boy

Little Becky Two-Shoes (teens-20s) – A poor girl

Robby the Stockfish, Billy Boy Bill, Mrs. Millenium, Dr. Billeaux (and various roles may be doubled)
