The Ballroom Dance workshop May 12th 1-4pm. Ages 9-15

This workshop will include a warm-up and basic patterns in Swing,
Cha Cha and Waltz. In addition, the students will work on
musicality, body movement and partnership. The Swing portion of the workshop
will
incorporate a theatrical theme. No partner or experience necessary just
shoes that you can turn in and comfortable clothing.

Bios:

Diane Lachtrupp has choreographed and
performed for stage, video, television and film including working with Meryl
Streep, Merv Griffin, and film director Whit Stillman. Diane is a prize
winning
Tango, Salsa and Swing dancer. She holds a B.A. in Theatre from the
University
of Vermont and a Masters from NYU in Musical Theatre Choreography. Recent
shows
that she has choreographed include Fame, Into the Woods, RENT and Dr.
Dolittle.

Johnny Martinez holds a BME in
engineering from Pratt Institute and before joining forces with Diane, was a
concert dance and musical theatre performer. He performed in the National
and
European tours <http://www.saratogachildrenstheatre.org/workshops/>  of
"West Side Story", "Damn Yankees", and
"Fiddler on the Roof". He was a member of the Nanette Bearden Contemporary
Dance Theatre and the associate choreographer of the Anabella Gonzalez Dance
Theatre. Recent shows that he has directed include FAME, Into the Woods,
It's
Raining Tamales, Dr. Dolittle and Fables for Friends. Since
moving to Saratoga, they have taught at Skidmore College, Siena College,
Lyndon
Institute, Lake Avenue Elementary School, Burnt HillsHigh School, Maple
Avenue
Middle School, Lake George High School,St. Gregory's, Division Street
Elementary School, The Flurry, Dance Plus, ACC, Saratoga Savoy and the
Arthur
Murray Dance Studio.

Music Theatre Dance Workshop with Christopher Howard 

May 19 1-4pm Ages 8-18

In this music theatre dance-based workshop, Christopher M. Howard (currently
on the national tour of "Billy Elliot") will teach the fundamentals of dance
in the music theatre industry, including basic terminology, performance
quality, and choreography. Following a dance warm-up, Christopher will teach
two selections from "Billy Elliot: The Musical" including choreography from
"Shine" as well as choreography and vocals from the award-winning final
number. Students in this workshop will discover the importance of
interweaving dancing, singing, and acting into one in order to lead a
successful performance career.

Christopher Howard is originally from Burnt Hills and he is currently
performing in his first US tour with "Billy Elliot," following the
international tour of A Chorus Line (Larry) and a season with Dayton Ballet.
Prior to his studies as a scholarship

Ballet School, Christopher completed
<http://www.saratogachildrenstheatre.org/workshops/>  his BFA at SUNY
Buffalo. Other regional credits include Sweeney Todd (Anthony), Aida and
Fiddler on the Roof. Christopher is a member of the Actor's Equity
Association.

Musical Theatre Intensive Week 


JUNE 25 - 29th 9am - 3pm Ages 10 - 18 Fee: $250


We are offering an exceptional theatre training opportunity at Saratoga
Children's Theatre!

This program will feature in-depth acting, singing and dancing training
along with individual critiques to help young performers achieve their full
potential.

5 days of focused group and individual work that is sure to help any young
performer advance to the next level and help gain a professional edge in
their development.

Theatre Professionals who are both performers and educators will be teaching
this class and have a great deal of experience and expertise to share.

Performers will work on:

Acting: Learn how to find and/or prepare a monologue.

Singing: Learn how to find and/or prepare a song.

Dancing: Learn what to expect at a dance audition and how to best prepare
yourself.

Group performances: Learn a short scene from a Broadway musical and perform
it!



Build confidence in yourself and your abilities as an aspiring performer!
