Into the Woods is the "not-so-classic" retelling of some classic fairy tales (Cinderella, Red Riding Hood, Jack and the Beanstalk, Rapunzel) plus the premiere of a new tale about a Baker and his wife whose one wish is to have a child of their own. Our friendly neighborhood narrator takes us through the stories as the storybook characters enter the woods pursuing and eventually obtaining their hearts most fondest desires, and they all lived happily ever after...
Right?
Wrong.
In the second act our characters learn that all actions have consequences and sometimes the material things you think you want don't make you happy or content. Each story has its tough lesson and eventually all paths intertwine seeking that true happiness they thought they had achieved when their first wishes came true, as well as survival. The story combines very funny characters, with amazingly wonderful music, and sheds new light on the traditional "happily ever afters" that we are used to.
