Bouchard, Sheila J. SCHENECTADY Sheila J. Bouchard, 54, of Earl Avenue died Friday, February 10, 2012 at Ellis Hospital after a two-year struggle with chronic lymphatic leukemia. She passed away from complications associated with leukemia. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of Robert and Beverly Poliquin Cullen of Latham. She was educated in Averill Park elementary schools, was a 1975 graduate of Shaker High School and received her bachelor's degree from Russell Sage and master's in education from St. Rose College. Sheila was employed as a special education teacher for Questar III BOCES and had taught at many schools in Rensselaer County. She was a member of NYSUT and served on numerous committees and boards that were related to her work. She is also a member of the Clifton Park Not So Common Players, the Schenectady Light Opera Co., and Clifton Park Community Chorus. She enjoyed playing piano, music and was very involved with the arts in the Capital Region. One of her favorite activities was to attend Broadway Shows in New York City with her daughter Meghan. In addition to her parents, Sheila is survived by her beloved husband, Joseph W. Bouchard; her loving daughter, Meghan C. Bouchard of Schenectady and her devoted sister, Catherine A. Cullen-Doin (James) of Brunswick. She was the aunt of Shannon, Maeve, Ashley, Tiffany, Geoff, Scott, Mark and Matt. Special thanks are extended to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Dr. Armand, Dr. Brown, Nurse Practitioner Katie and Dr. Howard Schlossberg. Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at 10:30 a.m., from the Philip J. Brendese Funeral Home, 133 Broad St. (Route 32), Waterford and at 11 a.m., at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Waterford. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Waterford. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 4 to 8 p.m. Those who wish may make contributions to Dana Farber Cancer Institute in care of the funeral home office.
