AUDITIONS FOR WAR STORIES - THURSDAY, JANUARY 19TH AT 5PM-7PM

EMPIRE STATE COLLEGE, NORTHEAST CENTER, 21 BRITISH AMERICAN BLVD.,
LATHAM, NY 12110

_War Stories_ is an original performance piece
comprised of stories, poems, songs, and artwork created by members of
the Empire State College community. These various forms of expression
have been woven together into a script that collectively provides a
multivocal story about war. A wide range of experiences are expressed in
the production -- from the stories of combat veterans to the emotions of
those on the homefront who have lost loved ones in war. The piece does
not have a political point of view but rather tries to share the
thoughts and feelings of a diverse group of people.

The style of _War
Stories_ is akin to "spoken word." Performers will primarily be asked to
perform monologues although there are some pieces in dialogue as well as
some collective ensemble pieces. There may be opportunities for live
music and song in the production.

Auditions will be held with excerpts
from the script. All performers should bring a resume and, if possible,
a headshot. Actors do not need to prepare monologues in advance.

THE
PERFORMANCE OF _WAR STORIES_ WILL BE HELD AT PROCTOR'S THEATER IN
SCHENECTADY, NY IN THE GE THEATER ON TUESDAY, APRIL 24TH AT 7:30PM.
_ADDITIONAL PERFORMANCES MAY ALSO BE SCHEDULED BASED ON AVAILABILITY._
Rehearsals will be scheduled in the Capital Region area based on
performer availability although they are likely to take place on
weekends; performers should be available for more rehearsals in the two
weeks leading up to the production. Performers will not be paid.
Auditions are open to the greater community.

Pre-registering for
auditions is not necessary but it is appreciated. To sign up for
auditions or if you have any questions, please email War.Stories at esc.edu
