THEATRE INSTITUTE at SAGE ANNOUNCES OPEN HOUSE AND NEW COLLABORATION FOR STUDENT PROGRAMS
TROY- The Theatre Institute at Sage will continue to offer its popular Student Programs in the new year – Saturdays On-Stage, Vacation On-Stage programs, and two summer camps - and are pleased to announce several new classes in cooperation with Blue Horse Repertory Company and Cocca Casting.  
An Open House will be held on Saturday, February 4th in the Meader Little Theatre located on the Russell Sage College campus in Troy, NY.  Interested young people and their families are welcome at 10 am to meet instructors and fellow students and partake in a free one-hour introductory workshop.  A special class “Theatre Without Boundaries” is now being offered for students with disabilities.  
Prospective adult students are invited on February 4th at 12 noon for a two-hour complimentary workshop introducing Blue Horse Repertory Company’s Director Lora Lee Ecobelli’s unique acting technique.  Carolyn Cocca and Mark Fallon of Cocca Casting will also be available to review head shots, resumes and offer career advice.   
Theatre Institute at Sage (TIS) is dedicated to providing quality live theatre and arts-in-education programming to Capital Region students, teachers and residents.  Programs include educational support services for productions including study guides, in-class preparations, teacher in-services and school residencies.  TIS is under the direction of Michael Musial, Chair of Sage’s Department of Arts and Letters and NYS Theatre Institute veterans and Sage Teaching Artists-in-Residence David Bunce and Sara Melita.  Programs are taught by a combination of Sage staff, students and consultants.

What: The Theatre Institute at Sage is under the umbrella of the Creative and Performing Arts Department (CAPA) at Russell Sage College and is dedicated to providing quality live theatre and arts-in-education programming to Capital Region students, teachers and residents and enhancing the educations of Sage students by providing opportunities through involvement as support staff and student teachers.  
Programs will include educational support services for CAPA productions (such as in-class preparations, teacher in-services and study guides), a Saturday Theatre Arts school, a Winter break Circus Skills camp, a Spring break Stage Combat camp, and two three-week summer camps; Summer On-Stage and Summer Shakespeare Institute.
Who: Under the supervision of CAPA chair Michael Musial, New York State Theatre Institute veterans and Russell Sage Teacher/Artists-in-Residence David Bunce and Sara Melita will be responsible for the administration of Theatre Institute programming. Programs will be taught by a combination of Sage staff, students and consultants.
Where: Theatre Institute programs will take place on the Russell Sage College campus in Troy.
When:
Ø  September 2011:  The Theatre Institute at Sage will launch its programming with Saturdays On-Stage theatre school classes.
Ø  December 2011:  The Institute will produce and provide educational support services for the musical Peter Pan.
Ø  February 2012:  The Institute will produce and provide educational support services for William Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing.
Ø  February 2012:  Winter Break Circus Skills Camp.
Ø  April 2012:  Spring Break Stage Combat Camp.
Ø  June 2012:  The Institute will produce and provide educational support services for the musical A Year with Frog and Toad.
Ø  July 2012:  The institute will run two consecutive three-week summer theatre camps; Summer On-Stage and Summer Shakespeare Institute.

How: Announcements and recruitment for Theatre Institute programs will be done through a combination of direct mail, print media, social media and Sage website and publications.
