Hey everyone! This is a reminder that auditions for The Fantasticks start tomorrow night!
The Delta Xi Cast of Alpha Psi Omega is holding auditions for its upcoming production of "The Fantasticks" directed by Franklin R. Leavitt. Show dates are September 7, 8, 13, 14, & 15 at 8 pm.

Auditions are on Tuesday, 6/26 and Friday, 6/29 from 6-10 pm in the Academy Hall Auditorium on the RPI Campus Sign-ups begin at 5:40 pm. Callbacks, if needed, will be Saturday, 6/30 from 1-5 pm

Please prepare 16-32 bars from a musical and bring sheet music - an accompanist will be provided. Please no a capella auditions.

We are also casting non-singing roles. Please prepare a short comedic monologue but if you don't have anything, we can set you up with something from the script.
All rehearsals will take place on the RPI campus in Troy, NY and all performances will take place at the RPI Playhouse on the RPI campus.

 
The Fantasticks: Character Breakdown

Character, age range Description, vocal range:

The Narrator (El Gallo) – Ages 35 to 50 A rakish, handsome gallant; a dashing, articulate bandit. Baritone: A flat – High G

The Girl (Luisa) - 16 to 18 A romantic idealist with spirit. Soprano: B – High B

The Boy (Matt) - 18 to 20 An innocent young man, yearning for adventure. Baritone/Tenor: A – High G

The Boy’s Father (Hucklebee) - 35+ Former navy man, meticulous gardener. Baritone: A – High F sharp

The Girl ’s Father (Bellomy) - 35+ A merchant, also a picky gardener. Baritone: A – High F sharp

The Actor (Henry) - 40+ An aging, over-the-top thespian. Non-singing

The Man Who Dies (Mortimer) - 30+ Henry’s goofy sidekick. Non-singing

The Mute - 20+ Note: The authors use the masculine pronoun, but they were, and we are open to a female Mute. They say, "His function is essentially to function. ... his job is a hard one. He must move well, have a prodigious memory and concentration for detail. We must always sense his presence and yet he must never intrude, The MUTE may be played by a girl ... " May need to play musical instruments, like the tambourine. Male or female. Non-singing.
