A FEW ROLES REMAIN UNCAST for Tom Jones' musical The Fantasticks, produced
and directed by Ron Cleeve for Theater Project of Schoharie County:

            Luisa, a young girl in love;

            The Narrator, El Gallo - a dashing but wise "advisor" to the two
younger folks;

            A very old actor named Henry - does a lot of "Shakespeare, "or
so HE thinks anyway;

            Henry's sidekick, Mortimer, described as an "Indian" (Native
American) in the script.

Auditions will be held on Wednesday, March 7 from 6-8PM at the "Youth
Center" (Teen Town) in Cobleskill, NY. Teen Town is located on North Grand
Street.

THE FANTASTICKS tells the story of a young man and the girl next door, whose
parents have built a wall to keep them apart. The youngsters nevertheless
contrive to meet and fall in love. Their parents, meanwhile, are
congratulating themselves, for they have erected the wall and staged a feud
in order to achieve, by negation, a marriage between their willfully
disobedient children. A narrator sets the imagined scene and, in due time,
progresses to the role of professional abductor convincing the giddy
youngsters that they are deeply embroiled in a melodramatic encounter in a
garden under the moonlight. The evening itself is entirely concerned with
the notion that children - of whatever age - cannot fall in love unless
their love is forbidden.

Performances will be on Thursday, May 10 at Teen Town and on Friday and
Saturday, May 11 and 12, at The Best Western in Cobleskill. Performances at
The Best Western will be presented as dinner theater.

Only Henry, Mortimer and the Mute do not sing. All the other roles are
singing roles, and actors will be expected to perform an a cappella piece of
your choice at the auditions. You will also be asked to read a piece from
the script.

Rehearsals are expected to be scheduled for M, W, and Th from 6:30-8:30PM.
Rehearsal times may vary according to the needs of the final cast.
