Focusing on make-up as a tool for communication, this introductory
course will teach beginning and veteran actors and actresses the
essential make-up skills they need to prepare themselves correctly for
appearances on stage and on camera. Students will learn the core design
principles, techniques, tricks and step-by-step application processes
needed to achieve polished and appropriate professional results with
make-up for use on stage and in headshots, film and high definition
video. The Studio Fee covers the cost of high quality makeup, which will
be ordered for each student at the first class session.

What Makes a Great Actor? Master Class with Maggie Mancinelli-Cahill of
Capital Repertory Theatre
Saturday, May 5th | 10AM-4PM
Members: $90 | Non-Members: $100
T his master class will focus on the development of "actor
intelligence". In order to fully embody a character onstage, actors must
learn to develop an emotional life for each role they play. Although
this class is appropriate for actors with a range of professional and
community credentials, some stage experience is necessary. This expanded
version of a workshop offered at the Arts Center last spring will allow
for greater depth and exploration of character in an intimate setting
that encourages experimentation.

Interested performers should send a resume and headshot to Maggie
Mancinelli-Cahill c/o The Arts Center, 265 River Street, Troy, NY 12180
by March 30th, 2012 for review. Selected participants will be asked to
prepare and memorize a monologue from a play by Tennessee Williams,
Eugene O'Neill or David Mamet which will be performed and worked with in
the context of the class. This class is limited to 12 participants. The
class will break for lunch midway through the session. Please bring a
bag lunch or plan to purchase something at a nearby shop.
