THE CREATIVE PLACE INTERNATIONAL (CPI) will hold auditions for AMERICAN SOUP, a new play with music by Mary Jane Hansen at The Arts Center, 320 Broadway in Saratoga Springs, NY on TUESDAY, APRIL 17 FROM 6:00 PM TO 9:00 PM. Rehearsals will begin July 16 for performances at The Arts Center August 3-12. ACTORS MUST PRE-REGISTER FOR AUDITION BY CONTACTING CPI AT 518 584-7780 or pbs at capital.net. Actors should prepare a 1-minute dramatic monologue and a popular song from the 60's or 70's. Bring sheet music in the right key, an accompanist will be provided. Participation in AMERICAN SOUP will be on a volunteer basis.  CPI is seeking actors to portray the following: TONY MARCELLO (50's), lovable curmudgeon and family man, restaurant owner, father of protagonist Maggie and her sister, Beth. BETH (Early 20's), Maggie's older sister, strong, righteous, in love with John, turns bitter when she loses him. JOHN (Late Teens) Confident older brother of Michael, good natured, a real "boy scout," Beth's boyfriend. YOUNG MICHAEL (10-12) John's younger brother, innocent, a little awkward, but sweet. ADULT MICHAEL (30's) Good-hearted, reliable and still a little awkward, but cute. an aspiring artist, Maggie's on-again-off-again boyfriend. HELEN (30's-40's) Michael and John's mother, a single mom who lives for her children. UNCLE FREDDIE (50's) John's and Michael's uncle, everyone's favorite uncle with an unusual sense of wisdom, salt of the earth. ELVIS PRESLEY (late 20's) A mysterious stranger who passes through Tony's restaurant and treats the locals to a song. RON (40's) Maggie's brief husband, a little up tight but a good man, truly wants the best for Maggie, even if it means losing her.
