Synopsis:

One of Shakespeare’s most brilliant comedies of mistaken identity. Viola, masquerading as a young man named Cesario, loves Orsino. Orsino, in turn, is in love with Olivia, who is in love with Viola, who she thinks is Cesario. Everyone has fooled Malvolio into thinking Olivia loves him, and, in the meantime, Viola’s twin brother, Sebastian, arrives, to throw things into further disarray.

Available roles:

Viola/Cesario (20-25): noble in bearing, brave, intelligent

Olivia (20-25): proud, beautiful, temperamental

Maria (35-40): Olivia’s gentlewoman, raunchy, clever, mischievous

Sebastian (20-25): Viola’s twin brother, brave, intelligent

Antonio (20-30): Sebastian’s friend/rescuer, brave, daring

Curio (20-50): servant to Duke Orsino

Sir Andrew Aguecheek (30-35): Sir Toby’s friend/drinking partner/moneybags, the last he’s completely unaware of, as he is unaware of much of what goes on around him

Duke Orsino (30-40): heartsick with love for the beautiful, but aloof, Olivia

Feste/Fabian (30-45): clown in Olivia’s house, musical (strings and vocals), still clever, but his skills are wearing thin (Note: This role can be played by an actor of either sex, and the actor who plays Feste needs to be able to play the guitar – even at a beginner’s level - and sing; actors auditioning for this role will be asked to sing acapella at auditions. Please be prepared with a song.)
