THE SOUND OF MUSIC  AUDITION THE SLOC MUSICAL THEATER 
NOTICE 
Audtions for  SLOC’s March production, the Rogers and Hammerstein’s 
classic,  SOUND  OF MUSIC  will be held at The Schenectady Light  Opera Company, 
427 Franklin Street, Schenectady, NY.  Dates, times and other information are 
 as follows: 
CHILDREN’S  AUDITIONS 
Auditions will be  held SATURDAY, DECEMBER 8, 2012.  SIGN IN AT 10:00  AM 
Auditions for  children (age 5 and older) interested in being cast as the 
following von Trapp  children:  
Gretl –age  5 
Marta-age  7 
Brigitta-age  9 
Kurt-age  10 
Louisa- age  13 
Friedrich-age  14 
Children at this  audition will sing a portion of “My Favorite Things” or 
Do-Re-Mi.” Sheet music  will be made available on the SLOC website well in 
advance of the audition.  An accompanist will be provided.  There will be no 
a capella singing.  Teenagers wishing to be considered for  the roles of 
Leisl (age 16) and Rolf (age 17) should attend the adult auditions  listed 
below.  Head shots and  resumes are requested, but not required. 
We are expecting a  large turnout for this audition and there may be a long 
wait to be seen.  Please bring books/quiet activities to  keep children 
occupied.  
ADULT  AUDITIONS 
Adult auditions  will be held MONDAY, DECEMBER 10,  2012,  SIGN IN AT 6:30 
PM and  TUESDAY, DECEMBER   11, 2012,  SIGN IN AT 6:30 PM. 
Audtions for all  adult roles, including those interested in the roles of 
Leisl and Rolf will be  held.  Please come prepared, with  sheet music, to 
sing 16 to 32 measures of a classic musical theater song, not  necessarily 
from the show (no pop or rock music, please).  An accompanist will be provided. 
 There will be no a capella singing.  Head shots and resumes requested, but 
 not required.  Some auditioners may  be asked to stay to read from the 
script. 
CALL  BACKS 
Will be SATURDAY,  DECEMBER 15, 2012 at 12:00 PM 
Children and  adults may be invited to call backs to sing and/or read from 
the script. If  called back, you will be notified if you need to prepare 
anything  specific.

ABOUT THE  SHOW: 
The final  collaboration between Rodgers & Hammerstein was destined to 
become the  world’s most beloved musical.  When  a postulant proves too 
high-spirited for the religious life, she is dispatched  to serve as governess for 
the seven children of a widowed naval Captain.  Her growing  rapport with the 
youngsters, coupled  with her generosity of spirit, gradually captures the 
heart of the stern  Captain, and they marry.  Upon  returning from their 
honeymoon they discover that Austria has been invaded by  the Nazis, who demand 
the Captain’s immediate service in their navy.  The family’s narrow escape 
over the  mountains to Switzerland on the eve of  World War II provides one 
of the most thrilling and inspirational finales  ever presented in the 
theater.  The  motion picture version remains the most popular movie musical of 
all time.

MARCH 15-17  AND  21-24,  2013 
THUR-SAT AT 8:00  PM, SUNDAYS  AT 2:00  PM 
REHEARSAL  SCHEDULE: 
Rehearsals will  start WEDNESDAY,  JANUARY 2, 2013.  We will rehearse  
Mon/Wed/Fri/Sat.  Exact times to be announced.  Tech week is MARCH 10-14, 2013.  
PLEASE BRING A LIST OF ALL CONFLICTS TO  AUDITIONS.

THERE WILL BE  REHEARSALS THE WEEK OF THE SCHOOL  BREAK-FEB.18-23
