Classic Theater Guild announces OPEN auditions for the Christmas Classic "A Christmas Story"

Come back with us to the early 1940s and follow 9-year-old Ralphie Parker in his quest to get a genuine Red Ryder BB gun under the tree for Christmas.  The classic and hilarious story
was immortalized in a 1983 film of the same name, and it's all here - the hilarious dream sequences, the dreaded bully Scut Farkus, the hideous leg lamp and more!

Directed by Tim Orcutt

Auditions will be held at Classic Theater Guild's rehearsal space at 137 State Street in Schenectady (near
the corner of State and Ferry streets) on Sunday September 23 and Tuesday September 25 with possible callbacks Wednesday September 26.  Each night doors will open at 7 PM and
auditions will start at 7:30 PM. Please do not arrive before 7 PM as the space is also being used for rehearsals earlier in the day.

Seeking two men (30s-40s), two women (30s-40s), 5 boys (one 5-8, others 8-12), and 2 girls (8-12); may expand roles cast depending on audition turnout.

Also still looking for technical staff and crew, especially props, costumes, and set design - please email resumes/interest to ctgxmas at yahoo.com.

Characters:

RALPH (Ralphie as an adult) - serves as narrator and plays other small roles (30s-40s) - at ease, good storyteller, comfortable and relaxed
RALPHIE (Ralphie at age 9) - demanding role, need confident and experienced younger actor who can relate the joy of Christmas and the frustration of growing up.
MOTHER - Ralphie's Mother - a classic homemaker, yet still able to get what she wants, subtle yet clever
THE OLD MAN - Ralphie's
Father - a classic breadwinner, gruff and masculine. Prides himself on his ability to make repairs.  Takes great
pride in a hideous lamp he wins as a prize, so there's a little bit of crazy in there too. (also plays voice of Santa Claus)
RANDY (Ralphie's little brother) - typical whiny little brother, most of the acting here will be without dialogue. Must be uninhibited.
MISS SHIELDS - Ralphie's teacher (will also play Mrs. Schwartz)
FLICK (m) - Ralphie's friend and classmate (also plays role in dream sequence)
SCHWARTZ (m) - Ralphie's friend and classmate (also plays role in dream sequence)
ESTHER JANE (f)- Ralphie's classmate
HELEN WEATHERS (f) - Ralphie's classmate
SCUT FARKAS (m) - A bully (also plays role in dream sequence)
