Capital Repertory Theatre seeks a Stage Manager for STAR (Summer Theatre At the Rep) Program

This is a paid non-union position.

STAR Runs July 1 – 28, 2013; 9am-4pm, Monday-Friday

STAR Performance Dates: July 26, 27 & 28 (exact times TBD)

STAR is a 4-week program that provides students (ages 12-16) the opportunity to work alongside professional artists and their peers.  The company works together, around a theme, to create an original 45-minute performance piece.  The program takes place at Capital Repertory Theatre.

Job Description

The stage manager is responsible for all stage managerial duties during the creation, rehearsal and performance of the STAR production.

Responsibilities / Duties include:

To attend any and all production / program staff meetings.
To supply production and (appropriate) theatre staff with all production / program staff meeting notes; daily rehearsal and performance reports; schedules and contact sheets.
Helping to ensure that a clear bridge of communication is maintained between all staff members.
To act as a scribe – in conjunction with the Assistant to the Playwright & Director – for the new script being developed by taking and distributing daily notes and revisions under the guidance of the Playwright or Director for the work under development.
To act as stage manager during all rehearsals; to call the show (if needed); to run sound board (if needed); to act as backstage manager for the performances of the production (if needed).
To set up and clean up rehearsal hall, and other areas used, throughout the program.
Assisting the program staff in the supervision and mentoring of students in the program.
When instructed by Program Director the stage manager will participate in theatre games, improv exercises, field trips, etc., all designed to help students build up a store of ideas for their creative efforts.
To create and maintain a binder of ALL information pertaining to the production, to be handed in at the end of the program, to the program director.
To assist the program director with attendance and record keeping for the program.
To keep emergency contact forms on hand at all times.
To properly dismiss students at the end of the day.
 Other duties as assigned by Program Director.
