Class Act Productions Presents: 
Auditions For 
Little Women: The Musical

Based on the novel "Little Women" by Louisa May Alcott
 
Audition Dates and Times:
Monday, May 13th and Wednesday, May 15th - 7pm
Sign-In 6:30pm
 
Location:
Rexford United Methodist Church
18 Main St
Rexford, NY
 
Performance Dates:
August 2-4 & 9-11, 2013
All performances will be held at the James L. Meader Little Theater on the Russell Sage Campus.
Fridays & Saturdays @ 8pm
Sundays @ 2pm
 
What to Bring to Your Audition:
-if you have one, a theatre resume.  If you don't have one, it doesn't count against you.
-a 16-bar excerpt from a song of your choice (Please bring your own sheet music, as an accompaniest will be provided - NO ACAPELLA SINGING)
-selections from the show is allowed  
 
Rehearsals:
Rehearsals will be Mon, Wed, and Fri (7-10), Sun (TBD), starting May 27, 2013.  All rehearsals are the Teresian House in Albany.

FEMALE ROLES:

 
Jo March (Mezzo with Belt, 16 – 25) a writer, very spirited, strong-willed, tomboyish – a very liberal woman in her time.

Marmee (Alto/Mezzo, 40 – 55) the girls’ wise and caring mother, a compassionate, strong woman who cares deeply about her children, she must use every ounce of strength to overcome her family’s hardships.

Meg March (Lyric Soprano, 18 – 27) the eldest daughter and the beauty of the family – a romantic who yearns for more from life than just working as a governess.

Beth March (Light Soprano, 15 – 24) the second youngest, nervous and shy on the outside but has an inner strength, devoted to duty and social caring for others, even at the expense of her health.

Amy March (Soprano, 12 – 23) the youngest, a willful girl who is not content to be the “baby” of the family, pretentious, spoiled, and quite the firecracker. A woman able to play 12 and the grown up version.

Aunt March (Mezzo/Soprano, 45 – 60) the pretentious, crotchety, and difficult matriarch of the March family, widowed, wealthy, and willing to try anything to maintain her influence. A Strong character role.
 
MALE ROLES:
 
Laurie (Strong Tenor to high B-flat, 16 – 22) the boy next door, charming, clever, intelligent, bighearted, Jo’s best friend.

Professor Bhaer (Baritone, 35 – 45) he is a fatherly mentor and respected philosophy professor who silently loves Jo.

Mr. Brooke (Baritone, 18 – 30) he is Laurie’s tutor, slightly shy, slightly awkward, completely entranced with Meg.

Mr. Laurence (Baritone, 55 – 70) his gruff, opinionated exterior hides his inevitable heart of gold, mature man, stiff curmudgeon.

****Please note:  All characters play a secondary role in the musical number, "An Operatic Tradgey"****
