Drums Along the Mohawk Outdoor Drama
 
There will be four performances of WalterD. Edmond’s classic tale, Drums Along the Mohawk, produced and adapted for thestage. This story takes place in 1777 and recounts the events ofthe American Revolution as it pertained to inhabitants of the Mohawk Valley ofupstate NY.



We will be casting for the following roles:


Talent will be asked to read from thescript for most parts. 




NICHOLAS HERKIMER (c. 1728–August 16, 1777)
Hero: 49- 53 years old. [Settle on 51] Affluent but humble father figurewith a commanding presence.  Head of theTryon County Militia. Head of the Committee of Safety. Rank: Brigadier General.Appointed by Maj. General Philip Schuyler in Albany. Rock of the Mohawk Valley.Beloved by the Mohawk Valley patriots. Unshakeable patriot. Optimal but notnecessary: About 6’ tall. Singing ability a plus but not a necessity.



SIR JOHN JOHNSON-(5 November 1741 – 4 January 1830)

 Quitely confident, Tory leader. [Tory=American colonist loyal to theBritish Crown]. Age: Early 30’s [Actual age: 36].





COL. BARRY ST. LEGER
Falsely confident, a bit arrogantBritish Colonel. He was brevetted to Brigadier General for this campaign. Age: 40.A good formal British accent is a plus but not necessary.



ENSIGNWALTER BUTLER
Son of the Mohawk Valley’s most powerful and prominent Tory JohnButler.  [Tory=American colonist loyal tothe British Crown].  Age: 20’s to early30’s. Confident, intelligent, brash, a ladies man. A lawyer by profession.  Excellent motivator and a man of means. Canbe ruthless.



ONEIDAINDIAN CHIEF: HONYERRY DOXTADER
Faithful friend of NicholasHerkimer. Stoic, proud, humble, trustworthy.  Around 40 yrs. old.


CREW: Stage Manager


Rehearsals for the first performanceweekend will be conducted from July 9th through July 26th at TawasenthaPark in Guilderland. NY. Please plan for at least one other rehearsal between theperformance weekends. Dress rehearsal for August 3-4 will be in the morning ofAug. 3, 2013 at Gelston Castle Estate in Mohawk, NY.

 
Actors will be paid a stipend at thecompletion of the run. Stipend rates vary with the size of the role performed.
 
Auditions will be by appointment only.  Please send headshot and resume to jaktar773 at aol.com. After receipt of headshot and resume, youwill be contacted for an audition appointment.
