Don't Dress for Dinner

By Marc Camoletti

Directed by Sky Vogel

Auditions

July 23 & 25 from 6:30 - 8:30pm
at the East Greenbush Town Library*

Roles for 3 men and 3 women, ages 20s-50s

It’s the story of a man and his mistress. The same man and his wife. The
same man again and his best friend. The best friend this time with his
mistress, the first man’s wife. And then there’s a cook, brought in by the
first man to prepare a meal for him and his mistress, but who gets mistaken
for the mistress, which gets the best friend in trouble with his mistress. A
cook, it should be added, with a husband who himself has no mistress, but is
very, very touchy about these sorts of things.

Character breakdown:

Bernard (40s-50s): Dapper and self-assured country gentleman, the essence of
the “bonhomme.” He enjoys the good life of fine dining, drinking, and
dallying – the last of which might come as a shock to

Jacqueline (40s): Bernard’s wife. Cosmopolitan and charming, she is very
much the intelligent, beautiful, modern woman. Quite the catch, in fact,
especially having successfully tossed herself to

Robert (30s): Bernard’s best friend. Bernard and Jacqueline’s best man. A
bachelor, accountant and all around nice guy. Well, except for the
sleeping-with-Jacqueline part. Perhaps even a world-class scoundrel when
it’s revealed he’s also possibly mixing it up with

Suzette (20s-30s): Prim and professional, but also a swan beneath the
duckling exterior. A Cordon Bleu chef, hired by Bernard to prepare the
gourmet courses leading to a weekend of “debauchery dessert” with his
mistress

Suzanne (30s): A Parisian model. At home in front of the camera, lost beyond
the catwalk. Sweet, though easily flustered, and would probably benefit
immeasurably by being taken care of by a big, strong man like

George (20s-30s): A big, strong man. Actually married to Suzette, and not
one to indulge in fooling around nor tolerate it in anyone else. Like, say,
Bernard
or Robert, neither of whom are anywhere near as big
or strong.
