Our Own ProductionS is proud to announce auditions for
Tennessee Williams'
The Glass Menagerie
directed by
Patrick White

Auditions will be Monday, July 15th and Tuesday, July 16th 7.00pm at
Emmanuel Friedens Church
218 Nott Terrace, Schenectady

Production dates are Friday, September 27th; Saturday, September 28th;
Sunday September 29th and Friday, October 4th; Saturday, October 6th; and
Sunday, October 6th.

All actors will read sides from the script.


All races and ethnicities encouraged to attend. Multicultural casting
practices will be employed.

Amanda Wingfield-49, A domineering single mother who clings fervently to
memories of a vanished, genteel past while hectoring her children to apply
themselves to the new world order, circumstances have thrust upon them. She
is simultaneously admirable, charming, pitiable and laughable.

Laura Wingfield-24, A severely self-conscious young woman whose leg is
braced, forcing her to walk with a pronounced limp. She has withdrawn from
the world and devotes herself to her father's old records he left behind
when he abandoned the family and her collection of glass figurines.

Tom Wingfield-22 in the action of the play, 28 in the telling of it. A
sensitive and imaginative young man who feels trapped by his obligations to
his family which he fulfills working in a soul crushing shoe factory. His
escapes are composing poetry, liquor and frequent trips to the movies.

Jim O'Connor-24, A smart, personable, charming young man who after a
brilliant high school career has found himself at the shoe warehouse with
Tom as a shipping clerk. A former classmate of Laura's, whom she idolizes,
he has taken up the American business prayer of self-confidence to bull his
way through hard times.
