As John Simon, notorious for his stinging reviews, wrote of the original 1989 production, "Funny, serious, suspenseful, involving, disturbing, and above all, expertly crafted....Epic grandeur and intimate titillation combined. It is the most stimulating kind of entertainment." The Outer Critics Circle voted "Other People's Money" Best Off-Broadway Play of 1989.

The story of an emerging hostile takeover of a Rhode Island family business that employs most of its small-town population has a cast of five. Actors must appear to be the ages described.

William Coles. Age: 40s. Attractive, well-groomed president of New England Wire and Cable. Originally from Florida, he relocated to Rhode Island for this job.

Andrew Jorgenson. Age: 68. Called "Jorgy" by those close to him. The hands-on Chairman of New England Wire and Cable. Less than comfortable in the boardroom, he enjoys rolling his sleeves up and tinkering with machinery. Rhode Island native.

Bea Sullivan. Age: early 60s. Jorgy's appealing longtime assistant and close friend. Rhode Island native.

Lawrence Garfinkle. Age: 40s. Unrefined, elegantly dressed New York "takeover artist." (N.B. While the script describes him as "obese," the actor needn't be. The original "Larry the Liquidator," Kevin Conway, certainly wasn't.) A cagey man of big appetites. Bronx native.

Kate Sullivan. Age: mid-30s. Bea's daughter. Sexy and tough, a successful Wall Street attorney. A Rhode Island native living in New York, educated and cosmopolitan.

All roles are open.
