Characters:
Wayne Cob (This role is CAST):A young, Vietnam Veteran suffering
from PTSD. A lover of music, talks in rhythmic patterns, is fond of Bob Dylan
and often tries to emulate him when playing his guitar and writing songs. Wayne
is short tempered and unpredictable. He can be thrown off of a subject easily
during a discussion. He often refers to other men as “Hoss” when talking to
them.
Jules Turner:(African-American, early 20s)  A good friend to Wayne, the younger of the two. A street kid
thrown into war because he did not want to attend college; he admires Wayne,
but is honest with him in regards to his faults. He is also a song writer but
has not yet found his true voice because he wants to connect with his daughter,
who has ceased communication with him due to his struggles with PTSD and drug
use. But he’s on the mend and his treatment is nearing its end. He is more
stable but still struggles with nightmares from war.
Dorothy Raines (This role is CAST): To the outside world Dorothy appears
to be a counselor working at Overbrook under the direction of Dr. Eli Spence, a
psychologist studying unorthodox treatment methods. But Dorothy too is
undergoing treatment. She suffers from an identity disorder, one controlled if
she is heavily medicated, which she often is as Dr. Spence allows her to run a
weekly group therapy session. She is the love interest of Wayne, who under a
psychotic moment imagined her to be a woman that lived in California. Dorothy
at times questions Dr. Spence’s methods, struggles with her feelings for Wayne
(she truly loves him) and feels what she is doing is highly unethical.
Dr. Eli Spence:  (50s) renowned psychologist specializing in
working with patients suffering from PTSD; Dr. Spence is a mild-mannered and
direct. He has hands- off approach. Although his tactics appear manipulative
and selfish, he is often surprised by the outcome; such is the case with
Dorothy and Wayne, whom he knows have developed strong feelings for each other,
but does not let Dorothy in on the fact that he hasn’t changed Wayne’s
medication and that he has overmedicated her in hopes that her mental stability
would remove her feelings for Wayne.
