The Ghent Playhouse will hold auditions for My Cousin Rachel, a dark, character-driven mystery, based on the novel by Daphne DuMaurier adapted for the stage by Diana Morgan. Directed by Jason LaSusa.   Auditions: October 28 and 29.  Sign in at 7 p.m. Performances will be Jan. 24, 25, 26; Jan. 31, Feb. 1, 2;  Feb. 7, 8, 9 - Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. Sundays at 2 p.m. THE STORY: Phillip Ashley learns of the death of his guardian, whose last months were spent with his lovely and enigmatic cousin Rachel.  Although highly suspicious that she is guilty of murder, once Phillip meets Rachel, he is enchanted and seduced by her.  Rachel’s true nature is a mystery the audience must uncover, as Phillip’s sanity spirals out of control. CHARACTERS: Phillip Ashley: 20’s.  Important in his Cornish (England) community. Somewhat naïve and sheltered from the larger world. Rachel: 30’s.  Sophisticated, charming, vibrant, accomplished.  Louise: late
 teens/early 20’s. Smart and understated.  Grew up in rural Cornwall, Overshadowed by the worldly Rachel.  Seecombe: 55+.  the trusted, family butler James: Young man.  House servant. Kendall: 45-55.  Country lawyer.  Family friend.  Louise’s father.  Ranaildi: 35-45.  Savvy Italian lawyer and long-time confidante in love with Rachel.  All characters have Cornish accents, except for Rachel and Ranaildi, who have Italian accents. No need to use accents for the auditions, although experience with accents will be helpful.
