Classic theater guild Auditions for Irving Berlin’s “White Christmas” will be held   Thursday September 19 at the first reformed church 8 north church street Schenectady NY 12305 at 7pm, and Wednesday at Trinity united Methodist church 235 lark st  at 7pm Albany  NY 12210
the performance will be  December 6th to 15th, at proctors GE theater in Schenectady 
The Paramount Pictures film “White Christmas” was the top box office hit of 1954 and it has been a holiday favorite on television ever since. Featuring the music and lyrics of Irving Berlin, the theatrical version was developed in 2004. The plot follows the film: a successful song-and-dance team of former army buddies become romantically involved with a sister act and work to save the New England inn run by their former commanding general, but it incorporates several memorable songs written by Berlin for other shows as well. The dazzling score features “Happy Holiday,” “Blue Skies,” “I Love a Piano,” “How Deep is the Ocean,” and “White Christmas.”
A large dancing and singing ensemble is essential to produce “White Christmas.” 



Those auditioning should be prepared to sing a selection of 16 to 32 measures, preferably a ballad or up-tempo selection from a musical or popular music in the style of the ‘40s and early ‘50s. A selection from “White Christmas” is acceptable. Those auditioning should bring music. An accompanist will be provided.  Children auditioning for the young girl’s role are asked to prepare a selection of 16 to 32 measures in length to sing 



Dance style is 1950s Hollywood movie musical and includes ballroom, jazz, and tap. Those auditioning should come dressed to move, and be prepared to learn a short dance combination. Those that have tap shoes should bring them to auditions.

Everyone should also be prepared to read from the script, which will be available  All should bring a resume, a headshot if they have one, and a list of all conflicts they may have during the rehearsal period. Rehearsals will be held Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday and some Saturdays  at the before mentioned churches

Bob Wallace - late 20's to mid 30's, a superb singer with a crooning style who moves well.


Phil Davis - late 20's to mid 30's, strong jazz and tap-dancing needed - a song-and-dance comic performer.


Betty Haynes - mid to late 20's, a female singer of quiet beauty and charm who must move well.


Judy Haynes - early 20's, strong jazz and tap-dancing needed - a major song-and-dance performer.


General Henry Waverly - late 50's to mid 60's, with the exception of one line, a non-singing role.


Martha Watson - late 40's to mid 60's, a winning, appealing character-comedienne


Susan Waverly - 9 years old, she must have an excellent belt voice and be able to move well.


Ralph Sheldrake - mid to late 30's


Rita - mid 20's to early 30's


Rhoda - mid 20's to early 30's


Ezekiel Foster - mid 40's to late 50's
