*THEATER VOICES* will hold auditions
on Thursday August 28, from 7-9 pm
For a staged reading of “BEAST ON THE MOON”, by Richard Kalinoski. Directed
by Bruce Browne.
*Location:*
Steamer No. 10 Theatre, 500 Western Avenue, Albany - corner of West
Lawrence Street.
Please arrive on time and be prepared to stay until the end of the
auditions.
Actors will be asked to read scenes from the play.
*SYNOPSIS*:
Aram and his young mail-order bride Seta are Armenians living in Milwaukee
in the 1920s. Both are survivors of the killings and mass deportations
that took place in the Ottoman Empire while World War I raged in Europe.
When a street boy comes into their lives, the scars they bear—both psychic
and physical—are forced into the open. With deep humanity, gentle humor
and unexpected twists, this award-winning play ultimately offers hope, and
the promise of redemption.
*SEEKING:*
*Aram* – mid-20s-early 30s. A serious, rather formal man, who honors the
old-world tradition, and is determined that his young wife will bear him
many children to replace the family he lost.
*Seta* – should appear to be late teens. A young bride, new to America,
awed and frightened at first, but with an irrepressible sense of humor and
independence.
*Vincent* – young teenage boy to appear 12-13. A hungry street kid. Brash,
confident and cocky.
*Gentleman* – the narrator. Middle to late middle age. Avuncular,
articulate. (He is Vincent, grown).
Production Dates:
October 17-19, 2014 (Fri.-Sun.) Four performances at Steamer No. 10
Theatre, Albany.
