Prepare both:

1)   a short, memorized, Shakespearean monologue

2)   sides provided on request or at the theatre

 

No English accents, but dexterity with blank verse and experience with Shakespeare preferred.

 

Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

Male:

Claudius, late 40s – early 50s, Charismatic, charming, sexy, with a powerful presence.

Polonius, 50s-60s, Fancies himself a gifted and serious Political Figure. Thinks very highly of himself.

Laertes, 20s, A gifted swordsman (rapier). Jealous. Not an intellectual. Physical actor.

Horatio, 20s, Hamlet’s confident, and mirror in a way. He’s kind and efficient. *Will see Non-Pros and EMC’s for this role.

 

Female:

Gertrude, late 40s-early 50s, Sensual. Sexy. Classy. With motherly/nurturing instincts.

Ophelia, 20s, Fragile. Poetic/ethereal beauty. Very much in touch with herself/feelings. *Will see No- Pros and EMC’s for this role.

 

Non-Pro:

Rosencrantz, 20s, a student. Eager. Intellectual.

Guildenstern, 20s, a student. Athletic rather than bookish. He would be “Captain of the Crew Team.”

Marcellus, 30-40, A guard / soldier.

Bernardo, 30-40, A guard / soldier.

Orsic, 20-40, Fight aficionado. Eccentric. Has a great facility with language. Flamboyant.

Luciano (Player), 40-50, A physically adept actor – must be able to move.

Player, 20s-40s, A physically adept actor – must be able to move.
