Equity Principal Auditions

Thursday January 8, 2015

10AM-6PM                                                            at Capital Repertory Theatre

Lunch 1:30pm – 2pm                                    111 North Pearl Street

                                                                        Albany, NY 12207

 

Please prepare:

1. sides, provided on request or at the theatre

2. vocals for: Oh! That Low Bridge or Fifteen Miles on the Erie Canal, lead sheets provided on request or at the theatre

3. music for guitar/banjo/fiddle (violin), etc. for: Oh! That Low Bridge or Fifteen Miles on the Erie Canal, lead sheets provided on request or at the theatre

4. music for an additional song of your choosing, on the guitar/banjo/fiddle (violin), etc.

 

Versatile acting skills needed to play multiple roles. Bring picture and resume, stapled together.

 

Actors must have local housing.

 

All actors cast will be offered Equity contracts.

Always bring your Equity Membership Card to auditions

For the past decade, Capital Repertory Theatre’s TYA Touring “On-The-Go” productions have been presented in a variety of schools and environments throughout the Capital Region to very diverse audiences. Actors should enjoy performing for and interacting with young audiences (elementary and middle school students). There are post-show discussions after every performance (time permitting). Actors must also be collegial and adaptive. There are no overnight stays on the tour. The TYA work week is Monday – Saturday.

THEY BUILT AMERICA

They Built America, a new original work, will introduce students and audiences to the real men, women and children, the politicians, farmers, merchants and laborers who came north to build the Erie Canal. The story of Kelly McPhearson unfolds, that of an undercover female worker on the canal, detailing the creation of this miraculous waterway that transformed America from a burgeoning country into a great nation.

 

Seeking:

Male 20s-40s: (2) Physically adept actor/musicians who will portray a variety of characters ie: Politicians, Immigrant Workers, Canal Engineers, etc. Good with accents (Irish, German, Italian and Norwegian), and can play the guitar, banjo, or fiddle (violin). Harmonica and melodica players a plus.

 

Female 20s-40s: (1) Physically adept actress/musician to portray a variety of characters, both male and female, ie: Politicians, Immigrant Workers, Canal Engineers, etc. Good with accents (Irish, English, German, Italian and Norwegian), and can play guitar, banjo, or fiddle (violin). Hand-drum a plus.
