Soprano Recital Partner wanted for repeated, paying Purcell Recital.
An all-Purcell recital is scheduled for 3 locations on 3 dates in August. Besides the soprano, the cast will include Steve Dahlin, bass-baritone, a keyboard player and a cello player. Each singer will sing approx. 6 songs from the art song and opera repertoire of Purcell (When I am Laid in Earth is nearly a requirement), and will collaborate with the other in 3 or 4 duets (e.g, Lost is my Quiet)
The motive is to present the music in a practised, professional manner while presenting interesting historical data to introduce each song or most of them. And all 4 of the cast would be invited to participate in that.
August 10 in Ghent, NYAugust 15 in Sheffield, MA (just south of Great Barrington)August 17 in Pittsfield, MA
A soprano is needed who meets these qualifications:
Enjoys singing to an audience and likes the idea of using Purcell for that. Can be casual enough to talk as yourself for one minute to the audience on a historical subject, and another minute, sing a song in the character that would be suited to perform the song.Has a trained, classical voice with a wide range of dynamics and with a gentle natural vibrato. Is available for rehearsals in West Stockbridge, MA, perhaps one in June and several in July and early August
This program was planned with a soprano on board but she got a new job that requires moving away.
Please reply to stevedahlin at hotmail.com with a resume and headshot or other photo (unless I already know you) and give a range of dates in the next 2 weeks (by Jun 29 at the latest, but preferably sooner) when you could be available for a relaxed, low pressure auditon.
