Summer Site-Specific Theatre Intensive for High School Students
How does the space of a place influence the performance? In what ways
can the layers of history in a building infuse its way into a story?
This is what site-specific theatre is all about, and what better place
to create it than in historical downtown Troy! In two weeks you'll be
researching, creating, rehearsing and performing an original piece of
theatre for the lobby of the Frear building, an historic and
architecturally stunning space. You'll then perform the piece for a live
audience during Troy Night Out on July 25, 2014. Led by Leigh
Strimbeck, Artist in Residence at Russell Sage College, and playwright
and Director of Education at The Arts Center, Sunny da Silva, with
assistance from Theatre Artist Emily West. High school students
interested in any facet of theatrical writing, design or performance are
encouraged to take part. This is a one of a kind experience you
shouldn't miss!
Need based scholarships available.
