"Don't Iron While the Strike is Hot!", a new historical musical about Irish
Immigrant Kate Mullany who organized the Collar Laundry Women of Troy, NY to
strike in 1864, is auditioning actors Monday March 10 6-8:30pm at Troy YWCA,
21 1st St. Play casts 36 roles, all ages. Seeking an Irish-looking lead man
25-40 with singing skills, Irish-looking laundry women ages 17-30, Mary
Mullany 20-28, Emma Willard 70-80, Brawny Irish Uncle Seamus 40-60, Brawny
Iron Molders, a Policeman, Priest and William Sylvis. Produced by The
American Labor Studies Center in Troy. The Collar Laundry Union was the
first bona-fide Female Labor Union in the US.
Scripts are available at the Info desk at Troy Library and WK Sanford
Library, at Russell Sage Theater Department or by contacting Director Ruth
Henry at henryr at nycap.rr.com or 518-495-4503. Rehearsals M, T, W 6-9pm at
Troy YWCA begin Wed March 12. Actors need not attend all rehearsals.
