AUDITIONS COMING THIS WEEK FOR NEW MUSICAL ON PROCTORS MAIN STAGE...

CASSANDRA is an epic NEW sung-through musical based on the Greek Myth of Cassandra, the cursed prophetess of ancient Troy. CASSANDRA will receive it's WORLD PREMIERE in the grand form in a theatrical concert on the Main Stage at famous PROCTORS Theater in Schenectady, New York. This powerful new musical with Music & Lyrics by Patrick Longo will be brought to the stage by veteran director/designer Matthew T. Teichner, with Choreography by Marcus Rogers.

AUDITIONS for CASSANDRA will be held on March 10th, 11th, and 12th with an additional night on March 24th at SCCC (Schenectady County Community College) in the Carl B. Taylor Auditorium at 6:30 pm.  Dance Auditions will be held on March 11th.

Please come prepared to sing 16 to 32 bars of a contemporary pop/rock piece or standard Broadway... Also come with a dramatic monologue to perform as part of the audition.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

Cassandra

The Lead. Part is represented in three lifetimes. Age range of 17 to 40 years old. Life 1: Trojan Princess, cursed madwoman, prophetess. Life 2: Orphaned Flapper turned Labor Organizer, and lovesick prophetess. Life 3: Science Nerd/Rockstar, savior. Must have versatile voice to cover many genres of Western genres of music: Operatic, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Broadway. See the Greek Myth.

Young Cassandra

Supporting. Part is represented in one lifetime. Age range of 7 – 11 years old. Utilized for show-stopping song: “Anything, But Small.” Spunky young Cassandra tells the world how she’ll be perceived when she’s an adult.

Helen

Lead. Part is represented in three lifetimes. Age range of 17 – 40. Life 1: Spartan Queen, “The Face That Launched a Thousand Ships,” self-imposed victim. Life 2: Orphaned Gold Digger, Christian Missionary. Life 3: Prom Queen turned IT Nerd. Must have versatile voice to cover many genres of Western genres of music: Operatic, Jazz, Blues, Rock, Pop, Broadway. See the Greek Myth.

Agamemnon

Lead. Part is represented in three lifetimes. Age range of 17 – 40. Life 1: Spartan King and General, confident, lackey to brother, Menelaus. Life 2: Playboy, heir to oil/steel empire, philandering ne’er do well, lacks ambition. Life 3: Football fullback, cocky corporate jock with the ambitions of Kenneth Lay (ENRON). Ajax, The Lesser

Lead. Part is represented in three lifetimes. Age range of 17 – 40. Life 1: Over-stimulated general with bloodlust and authority complex. Life 2: black sheep in family, conniving seeker of family fortune. Life 3: Sensitive, football waterboy, brilliant nuclear scientist. Vocal Styles: Operatic, Broadway, Rock. See the Greek Myth.


Apollo

Lead. Part is represented in three lifetimes. Age range of 35 – 50. Life 1: Greek God, and all libido. Life 2: Robber Baron, Industrialist, Steel/Shipping Magnate. Life 3: Multi-hyphenate corporate raider and a mix between Jim Morrison with the power and wealth of Rupert Murdoch. Vocal Styles: Operatic, Rock. See the Greek Myth.

Priam

Lead. Part is represented in three lifetimes. Age 40 – 50. Life 1: a sad, failed King whose city burns around him. Life 2: a failed Great Depression stock speculator, corporate snitch, union buster. Life 3: Vietnam Vet, Career Politician/Senator. Vocal Styles: Operatic, Broadway, Rock. See the Greek Myth.

Odysseus

Lead. Part is represented in two lifetimes. Age 17 – 40. Life 1: a wise, witty “fixer” and reluctant warrior/hero. Life 2: A linebacker, computer hacker “lost at sea” and looking for a better way to use his powers/brains. Vocal Styles: Operatic, Broadway, Rock. See the Greek Myth.

Hecuba

Supporting. Part is represented in two lifetimes. Age 40 – 50. Life 1: a sad, wife to failed King whose children have been murdered and taken as slaves. Life 2: wife of failed Great Depression stock speculator, forced to abandon her children. Styles: Operatic, Broadway. See the Greek Myth.

Menelaus

Supporting. Part is represented briefly in two lifetimes. Age range of 17 – 30. Life 1: Spartan King, cuckolded by Helen, blood lust, vengeful. Life 2: Football Quarterback/Prom King. He is a ruthless leader with a mean jealous streak, and cause of the ten-year war. Vocal Styles: Operatic, Broadway, Rock. See the Greek Myth.

Tyndareus

Supporting. Part is represented briefly in one lifetime. Age range of 35 – 50. Father of Helen, Clytemnestra and Penelope. A skinny intellectual King that loathes the power of the young Spartans: Menelaus, Agamemnon, and Odysseus. Vocal Styles: Operatic, Broadway. See the Greek Myth.

Bernice

Supporting. Part is represented in three lifetimes, Age range of 17 – 40. Big, bold and beautiful, with a powerful presence. Vocal Styles: Operatic, Broadway, Jazz, Blues, Gospel. Age range of 17 – 40.

Reverend Herring

Supporting with one lead song. An African American gospel preacher, late 30’s to early 50’s. Vocal Styles: Gospel, Rock.

Various, Chorus

Supporting. There are many parts for townspeople, protesters, etc., with comedic and sharp lines. Many standout roles with poignant observations. All ages. All styles of Western Music.
