Confetti Stage Auditions for The Tempest at Ten Broeck Mansion Garden

Auditions for Shakespeare's the Tempest will be held on Monday and Tuesday,
May 12 & 13. Sign-in starts at 6:30 and auditions will begin promptly at
7:00pm.
Auditions will be held at the Albany Masonic Hall, 67 Corning Place, in
downtown Albany.

What does it mean to be civilized? What does it mean to be good and evil?
Is that which is "civilized" always "good", thereby that which is
"uncivilized" always "bad"? These are the themes to be explored in
Confetti Stage's production of *The Tempest*. This will be a multi-ethnic,
gender, and age production to be performed in the beautiful outdoor setting
of Ten Broeck Mansion August 1-3, and August 8-10. While we are looking
for many different types of people to fill the roles, the production is to
take on a more Africanized quality to the spirituality, movement and magic
that the show possesses, including limited African dance.

However, we will be using the traditional (and beautiful) Shakespearean
language. BUT DO NOT LET THAT SCARE YOU! Whether you have done
Shakespeare before or not; if you have never acted before; if you just
love the Bard; come out and audition!

This production will REQUIRE multiple ethnicities and genders. All roles
(with the exception of Caliban, Miranda, Francisco, and Stephano) are open
to ALL ethnicities, genders, and ages 17 and above. Caliban, Miranda,
Francisco, and Stephano will be filled with their traditional genders.

Actors should come with:
1. A prepared 1 minute monologue from any Shakespearean play. It does
not need to be memorized, but PREPARED!
2. Actors auditioning for Trinculo or Stephano should prepare a comedic
monologue.
3. Actors auditioning for Caliban may prepare a comedic or dramatic
monologue, but should also demonstrate physicality, as Caliban is a very
physically demanding role.
4. All other roles will require dramatic monologues. It is suggested that
actors avoid monologues delivered by Macbeth or Lady Macbeth. Actors may
also be asked to read from the script.

If you cannot make it to either of the audition dates, please contact the
director Liana Martino at tinkerbelltrail at hotmail.com, and an alternate
date MAY be able to be arranged for you.
