Home Made Theater Holds Open Auditions for 

The Jungle Book

 

Home Made Theater announces open auditions for their December production of
The Jungle Book, by Mila Johansen, dramatized from the story by Rudyard
Kipling, directed by Toni Anderson-Sommo.  Auditions will be held on Sunday,
October 12th from 6:30-8:30pm and Monday, October 13th from 6:30-8:30pm with
call backs Tuesday evening at the Spa Little Theater in Saratoga Spa State
Park. There are 22 roles available for actors age 10 through adult.

The Jungle Book is a heartwarming story about a "man-cub" called Mowgli who
gets lost in the jungle and ends up adopted by "wild" animals.  He learns
how to survive by "the Law of the Jungle" - the lessons taught to him by
Baloo, the bear, and Bageera, the black panther.  He even wins the heart of
the most menacing of all the jungle creatures, Kaa, the rock python.  The
jungle animals strive to teach Mowgli that every living creature is a
"brother of one blood," never knowing that Mowgli will soon teach them a
valuable lesson, too.  For when the "Little Mowglette" is captured by the
monkeys, Mowgli comes to realize that even though they smell and throw
trash, they are still "brothers" just like every other living creature.  The
little man cub knows that seeing doesn't just involve looking with the eyes,
but noticing with the heart.

Actors should wear comfortable clothing and be prepared to move. The
audition may include improvisation and stylized animal movement. Actors
should bring a current photo & resume. Photos cannot be returned. 

Production dates are weekends, Dec. 12-21, with three weekday morning
performances on Dec. 11th, 16th and 18th at 10am.  Possible 10am performance
on Dec. 18th at 1pm.  Rehearsals will begin October 27th.  No appointments
are necessary for the audition. Actors will read from provided excerpts from
the play.  No singing is required for this show.  For a detailed flyer with
