The RPI Players Open Calls for Directors for their 86th Season!

Troy, NY - March  16th, 2015



The RPI Players is seeking Directors for their 291st and 292nd shows: *The
Love of Three Oranges* and *the Mystery of Edwin Drood*. The RPI Players is
a student run community theatre on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute
campus.



The first mainstage performance is *The Love of Three Oranges* written
by Hillary DePiano, to be performed November 13th, 14th, 15th, 20th, and
21st of 2015. Forget all your dusty misconceptions about the traditions of
Commedia dell'Arte as *The Love of Three Oranges*, based on a scenario by
Carlo Gozzi, provides a wild, raucous slapstick comedy that is completely
retooled and revised for today's audiences. Prince Tartaglia's life is
filled with misery until an evil witch and her equally evil henchmen curse
him to search for three giant oranges. But this quest proves more fruitful
than anyone could have imagined as a once-lonely prince discovers love,
friendship, and laughter when he encounters wizards, monarchs, and a wild
narrator who isn't sure how far removed from the story he really is.



Secondly, our Spring Musical, *The Mystery of Edwin Drood* with Book, Music
and Lyrics by Rupert Holmes, will be performed on April 29th and 30th,
and May 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th. This wildly warm-hearted theatrical
experience kicks off when the Music Hall Royale “puts on” its flamboyant
rendition of an unfinished Dickens mystery in *The Mystery of Edwin Drood*.
The story itself deals with John Jasper, a Jekyll-and-Hyde choirmaster who
is quite madly in love with his music student, the fair Miss Rosa Bud. Now,
Miss Bud is, in turn, engaged to Jasper’s nephew, young Edwin Drood. Our
title character disappears mysteriously one stormy Christmas Eve-but has
Edwin Drood been murdered? And if so, then whodunnit?

To apply please submit a theater resume and a cover letter no later than *April
10th**.* The RPI Players Executive Committee will contact applicants for an
interview date and time. Please come prepared to discuss your vision for
the show.
