*THE RISE ABOVE *is an original independent television series, being
produced to air on ChannelAlbany (local Channel 18). *In the cutthroat
world of the performing arts, a group of long-time friends struggle to make
it big. Will they have what it takes? Highlighting real cast performances
(actors, dancers, singers, musicians of all types) and featuring strong
dramatic themes, THE RISE ABOVE is an emotional and entertaining ride
through what it means to fight for your dreams. *


REQUIREMENTS

NON-UNION / NON-PAY

Copy and credit provided (also IMDb)

•Must be local to the Albany, NY area or have

reliable access to transportation.

•Must have flexible availability & be willing to

contract for up to six episodes (to be shot in

2015). Pilot episode shoots in may.

Here are the characters descriptions:

SOPHIE ABELLA (F/ Caucasian/18-24)

SOPHIE is a singer/songwriter who plays the piano. She struggles with PTSD
and hides a secretive past. She clings to her friend GABE who protects her
and is kind of like the father figure she never had, having grown up as the
daughter of a struggling single mom with a host of bad relationships under
her belt. Sophie is eccentric and very expressive in character. SOPHIE may
not say it outright, but she's always felt that GABE and she would end up
together in the end.
 must be able to sing for this role.

MR. CORTEZ (M/Hispanic/40-65)

Hardworking family man; father of VICTOR and JESSE.


EXTRAS (Men or women, 18-80)

All types & ethnicities. All roles include dialog.
