PROCTORS SEEKS DIRECTOR FOR ANNUAL SUMMER YOUTH PRODUCTION – co-produced by Proctors and Capital Repertory Theatre
The Director for Proctors Summer Youth Production has the primarily responsibility for developing, implementing and ensuring the highest artistic quality and success of all aspects of the annual summer show to be produced for Proctors Mainstage.
 As a reflection of the Theatre’s values, Director will foster collaborative relationships to plan, develop designs and schedules, hire and supervise creative staff, create and monitor budgets, assist in the recruitment of participants of the program to deliver a successful program on time and on budget. The Director will serve as a representative of the Theatre and articulate the objectives and values of the program verbally and in writing.  The Director reports to Proctors Education Director and Capital Repertory Theatre’s Producing Artistic Director and works in coordination with the administrative team and to establish procedures and protocols for this endeavor.

Duties:
To advise in selection of the annual show, with consideration of scheduling, budget, staffing, casting, overall production elements

to recruit, hire (with approval of the Education Director) and supervise the production director, choreographer, musical director, designers (set, costumes, lights and sound), stage manager, asm, property master, costume supervisor, backstage crew and orchestra members.
to work in coordination with theatre staff to include weekly masterclasses in various disciplines and other educational opportunities that will provide students with industry training
to work in coordination with the production director and theatre administration to create and coordinate materials and logistics for auditions and casting

to create build and delivery schedules for all production elements and work in coordination with the Facilities Director to create load in and technical rehearsal schedules
to coordinate and conduct regular production meetings with all artistic team members prior to and during the program
to establish duties, roles and oversight of production crew, including venue staff, independent contractors, apprentices and interns

to coordinate rehearsal spaces and rehearsal needs
to regularly attend rehearsals and provide feedback to director and designers to ensure artistic quality in acting and performance elements and design execution
to attend all performances of the production
to work in coordination with theatre administration to create content for Playbill, help arrange cast photos and contribute to the create proper advertisements and promotional materials for the show


The ideal candidate will have:

.   Minimum BA in Theatre
•    Passion about musical theatre

•    Experience in arts/directing environment for minimum of 5 years

•    Experience working with youth minimum of 5 years

•    Producing and budget management experience 

•    Experience in collaborating with creative people

•    Project management, analytical and problem solving skills

•    Strong interpersonal skills

•    High level of self motivation

•    An understanding of the theatre making process and the challenges and 
demands of a producing theatre



Stipend position, no benefits. The job starts part-time in January 2016 (flexible scheduling to recruit and hire staff, oversee auditions, develop designs) with a full-time residency July 1 through August 7, 2016.
Fee:  is competitive and commensurate with experience
