CAPITAL REP ANNOUNCES OPEN AUDITIONS For Young Actors!

A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL

To facilitate planning for next school year, Capital Rep is holding an open call for young actors for all speaking parts and the singing/dancing ensemble for its holiday production of A CHRISTMAS STORY, THE MUSICAL.

Choreographed by:  Freddy Ramirez

Musical direction by:  Josh Smith

Starts rehearsals:  Nov. 2, 2015

Opens:  Nov. 27

Runs through:  Dec. 29  (Tues-Sundays)

SEEKING:

We are seeking a total of 16 young actors who will be double cast to facilitate the many performances.  These are not understudies!  Everyone will perform. All shapes and sizes of young actors are welcome!  All ethnicities encouraged!  Everyone sings Broadway belt – everyone taps except Ralphie.

Boys: 

(4) must be 5’2” maximum height.  Must be no more than 13 years old at the end of the run (12/29/15).  Must be able to sing (Broadway belt) and tap dance.

Girls:

 (4) must be 5’2 maximum height.  Must be no more than 13 years old at the end of the run (12/29/15):  Must be able to sing (Broadway belt) and tap dance

Tap Specialist:  can be a girl or boy – but must be a maximum of 5’ tall.  This young actor/dancer has a fabulous solo number with Miss Shields

Audition Date:  Wed. April 15, 2015

Time:  Singing/Acting:  4-6PM (make an appointment)

Dance Call for everyone:  6-7:15PM

Place:  The Egg at Empire State Plaze, Dance Studio

TO AUDITION:

Make an appointment – email cowens at capitalrep.org and we will write you back and assign you a time. Everybody needs to come to the dance call from 6-7:15PM. Bring photo, resume, sheet music. Prepare a short, memorized monologue or poem (no more than 1 minute long) and a song of your choice.  Accompanist will be provided.

The director, musical director and choreographer will be present.
