Auditionswill be held:
Sunday,May 17 @ 4:00pm (sign-in @ 3:30)
Monday,May 18 @ 7:00pm (sign-in @ 6:30)
 
Auditionswill take place at the NSCP Storefront (next to Toys R Us) in the VillagePlaza, 19 Clifton County Road, Clifton Park. 
 
Regular rehearsalswill begin in mid-August. Performances will take place at the Shenendehowa EastLittle Theater. 
Performancedates are October 16-18, 22-25. Rehearsals will primarily be Monday,Thursday, and Sunday.  Wednesday will be a back-up date for extrarehearsals as needed.  (The schedule may be adjusted based on cast availability.)  
 
Pleasecome prepared with 16-32 bars of a Broadway show tune. An accompanist will beprovided. Singing from the show is fine. 
 
Synopsis: As a girl, Violet was struck by awayward axe blade when her father was chopping wood, leaving her with a visiblescar across her face. With enough money finally saved she's traveling acrossthe 1964 Deep South towards a miracle - the healing touch of a TV evangelistthat will make her beautiful. Though she may not succeed in having the scar onher face healed, Violet is able to repair those that are lying deeper than herskin; and on the way she meets a young, African-American Soldier whose love forher reaches far past her physical "imperfections".
 
Cast of Characters:
 
VIOLET -Female, 20-35 yrs old – Vocal Range: G3 - F5 
The titlecharacter, a young North Carolina woman whose face was scarred in a childhoodaccident. She is stubborn and prickly, but filled with equal parts hope andobsession that she may heal and be made beautiful.
 
FLICK -Male, 20-30 yrs old – Vocal Range: C4 - E6 
AnAfrican-American soldier; a dreamer and go-getter. He doesn’t enjoy the army,but enjoys the respect it garners him. There is something gentle, good abouthim, not to be interpreted or confused with weakness or lack ofauthority. 
 
MONTY -Male, 20-30 yrs old – Vocal Range: A3 - G5 
Aparatrooper and Flick’s friend from basic training. Rough around the edges. Self-consumed,but not necessarily purposefully so. Fighting his own demons. 
 
FATHER -Male, 35-45 yrs old – Vocal Range: A3 - F5 
A simple,widowed man who lovingly raises his daughter alone doing the best he can withthe little knowledge and resources he has to do so. Stern but friendly, smartbut uneducated. Accidentally scars Violet’s face while he is choppingwood. 
 
YOUNGVIOLET - Female, 10-13 yrs old – Vocal Range: A3 - E5 
Not quiteas guarded or prickly as her older self, but still tough and stubborn. She hasa keen curiosity and the rough edges of being brought up solely by her father. (Note:The script suggests that the age range for this role is 10-13. However, theactor would more likely be in the "real life" age range of 12 - 16.Any age is welcome to audition.)
 
PREACHER- Male, 25-45 yrs old – Vocal Range: B3 - G5 
Animpassioned, theatrical man who preaches with all the bravado he can muster.Once had a true healing touch but has lost it in his quest to become a showman.Dismissive and egotistical. (Actor may double as Bus Driver, Rufus, RadioSinger, and Bus Driver 4.) 
 
GOSPELSOLOIST - Female, 35-70 yrs old - Vocal Range: F3 - G5 
A memberof the volunteer choir that sings for the Preacher’s telecast. Sings for Godwith passion and power. African-American. (Actor may double as Landlady andWoman Knitting.) 
 
MABEL -Female, 30-50 yrs old – Vocal Range: A3 - G5 
Atalkative woman on the greyhound bus who shares stories of her many husbandsand how she loves gray eyes. (Actor may double as Music Hall Singer and WomanWith Fan.) 
 
OLD LADY- Female, 55-65 yrs old – Vocal Range: F3 - E5 
A formerbeauty in her heyday. Staunch, tired and frustrated with life. (Actor maydouble as Hotel Singer and Old Lady 2.)
 
EARL -Male, 40-70 yrs old – Vocal Range: B3 - F5 
A strangecharacter on the greyhound bus who sneaks smokes in the bathroom and iscarrying a smelly suitcase he claims holds a flea circus. (Actor may double asRadio Soloist, Waiter, Leroy Evans, Mechanic, and Bus Driver 3.) 
 
VIRGIL -Male, 18-30 yrs old - Range: B3 - B5 
ThePreacher’s assistant. Knows the smoke & mirrors of the Preacher’s show andmust begrudgingly deal with anyone who might derail it. (Actor may double asBilly Dean, Creepy Guy, Radio Singer, and Bus Driver 2.)
