Classes for 2015 include Dance Training, Scene Study, Performing Artists Workshop (triple threat), and Broadway Connection - a Master Class Series!

A well rounded musical theatre education doesn't stop at performance opportunities. Honing technique and developing new sets of skills is equally important, and can help your student to improve upon their innate talent. Over the past two years, Park Playhouse has expanded our programming to include not only our summer productions, but to also offer a series of fall and spring workshops and classes. This year, we have the following exciting opportunities that your students could be a part of:

*         NEW FOR 2015-2016 - Broadway Connection

This seven session Master Class Series features Broadway Connection<http://www.broadwayconnection.net> teaching artists with Broadway performers from all of the major National Tour productions playing at Proctors during the 2015-2016 season. Workshops will be held on the Monday evening prior to touring productions playing Proctors in Schenectady, and the classes will be hosted at The Palace Theatre in Albany, NY. Individual workshops will feature two-hour master classes, each culminating in an open questions & answer session with the Broadway Connection artists, all of whom have significant experience performing on Broadway, in touring productions and in regional theaters throughout our nation. Class size is strictly limited, so secure your space today! Enrollment is now open!

Classes & topics offered in the 2015/2016 Series:

October (featuring Broadway Connection artists from Book of Mormon) - Musical Theatre Performance
November (featuring Broadway Connection artists from Motown) - Musical Theatre Dance
December (featuring Broadway Connection artists from Matilda) - Triple Threat Technique
December (featuring Broadway Connection artists from White Christmas) - Tap Dance
January (featuring Broadway Connection artists from Cinderella) - Audition Techniques
April (featuring Broadway Connection artists from Lion King) - Acting Through Song
May (featuring Broadway Connection artists from Once) - Vocal Technique

Classes will be divided by age, with separate sessions running concurrently for both 9-12 year-olds and 13-18 year-olds.  Individual master classes will be available at a rate of $50 per class. You can get one workshop free (savings of $50) and secure your space in every workshop ahead of time by booking a full series package. Series packages can be booked for $300, and are the best way to ensure your student is able to participate in all workshops. Enrollment is limited to full series packages until September 1, at which point any remaining slots will be offered to individual workshops on a first-come, first-served basis. *         Performing Artists Workshop - now with TWO experience levels!
This team taught workshop features a three person faculty - popular local performer and vocal instructor Lisa Passonno Franklin, Producing Artistic Director Owen Smith, and Resident Choreographer Ashley-Simone Kirchner! Each student will receive dance, acting and vocal instruction during the weekly 90-minute class sessions. Based on an assessment by our staff, students will be divided into two levels to allow less experienced students separate instruction from intermediate students.
Classes are held Wednesdays from 5:30 to 7:00pm at the Palace Theatre
Recommended for students from ages 8 to 13
This 10 week session's classes begin September 16 and run through November 18

*         Dance Classes - NEW for Fall 2015 ADVANCED JAZZ
As resident dance instructor for Park Playhouse, Ashley-Simone Kirchner will be teaching a full series of dance classes in a variety of styles to students at a range of skill levels. Ballet is the basis of all musical theatre dance technique and we encourage all students to consider this class before or in addition to registering for Musical Theatre Dance. Advanced Jazz is a college prep track intended for students with significant prior dance training. Ashley is committed to catering to her students, and can provide ideal instruction for your student - no matter their prior experience!
Tap Dance - Tuesdays @ 5:30pm (one-hour class)
Ballet - Tuesdays @ 6:30pm (one-hour class)
Musical Theatre Dance - Tuesdays @ 7:30pm (one-hour class)
Advanced Jazz - Thursdays @ 5:30pm (90-Minute class). Note: prior dance training required.
All classes will be held at The Palace Theatre in Albany
Recommended for students ages 12-18

*         Advanced Scene Study - Ideal for older Pajama Game students hoping to hone their acting skills!
This new class series is dedicated to advancing students' skills in the art of acting. While many local students have private voice teachers or take dance classes, it is our experience that very few students have gained formal instruction in acting technique. We firmly believe that this is essential for success in theatre, including success as a dancer or vocalist. Classes will be taught by Producing Artistic Director, Owen Smith.
Classes are held Thursdays from 7:00pm to 8:30pm at The Palace Theatre
This 10-week session's classes run from September 17 to November 19
Intended for students ages 15 to 18
Cost for this 10-week session per student is $250
