*Playmakers Space @ The Arts Center of the Capital Region*
*MONTHLY | SCRIPT WRITING | CREATE | SHARE | DISCUSS | SUPPORT*
*DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSIONS: 9/26/2015 @ 11:59pm*
This playwriting group focuses on the support and development of new work
for the stage in the Capital Region. In this initial phase we aim to help
playwrights with a strong background in theatre to develop new work. These
initial sessions are aimed for those who have work they would like to be
read for group feedback in order to further the development of the piece.
Eventually this program will expand to include actors and directors and
designers, as well as public readings, workshop productions, and
collaboration on group pieces and showcases.
The aim is to encourage, stimulate and create a foundation for new plays by
local playmakers in a collaborative and supportive setting, while at the
same time involving the larger community in the creative process of new
plays through readings, talk-backs, and workshops. We hope to create a
vibrant community of artist and audience, and make some great theatre!
Applications will be reviewed by the Artistic Director, Andrea Cunliffe, as
well as a selected panel of advisers and Art Center staff. We are
specifically looking for playmakers who are innovative and brave in their
willingness to explore the world of the stage and take risks.
Playwrights must live within the following counties; Rensselaer, Albany,
Schenectady, Saratoga, Warren, Fulton, Montgomery, Schoharie, Columbia and
or Greene. Proof of residency (driver's license, passport, or voter
registration) must be submitted if selected. Selected playmakers will be
notified by October 9th or earlier, and the first meeting will take place
in late October.
