 THE RISE ABOVE is an original independent television series, In the
cutthroat world of the performing arts, a group of long-time friends
struggle to make it big. Will they have what it takes? Highlighting real
cast performances (actors, dancers, singers, musicians of all types) and
featuring strong dramatic themes, THE RISE ABOVE is an emotional and
entertaining ride through what it means to fight for your dreams. her is a
small synopsis of what happens in the pilot episode without giving to much
away.


In the small town of Albany New York 23 Year Victor Cortez who is an openly
gay college student and his friend Tess Bailey are both aspiring actors go
and audition for one of the most well known Hollywood movie producers.
meanwhile the well-known local band Second Nature attracts the attention of
a talent scout who just happens to work for the famous Stevie Isaacs, the
multi-platinum record producer could this be the big break that these up
and coming entertainers have been waiting for?

   episodes (to be shot in 2015). Pilot episode shoots in November.

*Here are the roles:*

*JESSE CORTEZ*

JESSE is the loving older brother of VICTOR and the only biological son of
MR. CORTEZ. Even though Victor continually pushes him away, Jesse remains
loving and supportive. He is good-natured, friendly and reasonable. Jesse
believes in the results of hard work. He is secretly envious of the wealth
of talent of his brother and his friends. Jesse also works at his father's
cafe, and someday when his father is gone, plans to run the business
himself.



*GABE GARCIA*

GABE is JOSE'S protective older brother, and enjoys *playing the guitar. *He
is close to SOPHIE as a friend, but secretly wishes it were something more,
though he'd never have the confidence to make a move and wouldn't want to
ruin their friendship. He bottles everything up, keeping his emotions at
bay so he can help others solve their problems. Unlike the rest of the
crew, Gabe isn't looking for fame. He does know that someday he'll need to
make a living if he ever wants to get out into the world on his own two
feet.



*JOSE GARCIA*

JOSE is an *aspiring filmmaker *and is the peacemaker of the group. He
often comes up with the most random and strange things to say, but is
extremely thoughtful and contemplative. He is the younger brother of GABE.



*BRIAN MILLER*

BRIAN is an *aspiring rap artist *who has a tendency to get a little hot
under the collar, but he is extremely talented. He wants to be the next
Jay-Z. He desperately loves his girlfriend, ERICA, but has a difficult time
showing it. Brian has a troubled and mysterious past that he doesn't often
talk about.



*JOHN DONOHUE*

JOHN is an *aspiring theatre actor* *and model *and a former California
boy. Born into a wealthy family, John has never had to struggle for
anything but his father's approval and attention. His father is
domineering, thinking John should spend his time on less frivolous
aspirations.



*SOPHIE ABELLA*

SOPHIE *is a singer/songwriter who plays the piano. *She struggles with
PTSD and hides a secretive past. She clings to her friend GABE  who
protects her and is kind of like the father figure she never had, having
grown up as the daughter of a struggling single mom with a host of bad
relationships under her belt. Sophie is eccentric and very expressive in
character. SOPHIE may not say it outright, but she's always felt that GABE
and herself would end up together in the end.



*TRISH DANIELS*

TRISH is a *singer* and half of the musical duet SECOND NATURE. She is a
little princess, kind of spoiled, forever on her phone and secretly needy.
She has a hard time making and keeping friends because of her materialistic
attitude. She makes everyone laugh with her carefree outlook on life, and
has no filter. Even having known VICTOR for years, she has a crush on him.



*TESS BAILEY*

TESS is *an aspiring actress *who brings a lot of emotion to the stage, but
very little to her daily life. She bottles up her emotions, much like GABE,
revealing them only to VICTOR who she trusts. Tess may not come from a
broken home, but her family dynamic is completely shattered. This life
forces her to suppress her emotions, only letting them out in her
performances.



*BRIE O'DAY*

BRIE is a seemingly confident girl, extremely attractive, and a born *all
around performer--dancer, singer, actor. *She is also part of SECOND
NATURE. She eats, rehearses a lot, and is focused. She loves to dance, but
is uncomfortable doing so in public since she has become so self-conscious
about her body. There was a time in her life where she thought she knew
everything about herself, but she has recently begun to question her
sexuality. She rooms with SOPHIE in the college dorms, while most of her
friends still live at home. When you set her off, she is a firecracker.



*SUPPORTING ROLES*
