adapted from the Charles Dickens classic by E.M. Bablin and Jonathan Riven

directed by Karen Christina Jones

Dickens' Carol was one of the greatest influences in rejuvenating the old
Christmas traditions of England which brings to the reader images of light,
joy, warmth and life.  Join the cast of WSMR in a small town in Warren
County, NY on Christmas Eve perform the annual tale at the behest of a true
"Scrooge" of a boss!

*Characters Descriptions*

Josh-(20- 40) Announcer 1.  Doubles as the Ghost of Christmas Present.
Friendly,  fun,  loving personality.

Mary-(20-40) Announcer 2. Doubles as The Ghost of Christmas Past. Slightly
more serious but enjoys her job.

Bob Crachit-(late 30's -50's) Radio station program director. Large family
but respected by all except his boss. Doesn't like conflict.

Scrooge-(50-60) Has been alone so long has developed contempt for people
and has no friends. Slightly threadbare appearance and totally uncaring
about people's feelings.

Visitor 1- male or female (30-50) Jolly appearance. Fundraises for Christmas

Visitor  2- male or female (30-50) Jolly appearance. Fundraises for
Christmas.

Fran-(20-30) Scrooge's niece and only living relative. Very caring person.

Marly-(50-60) Ghostly figure Scrooge's only friend now a tortured wandering
soul


Anne-(15-18 ) Scrooge's sister who dies young after giving birth to Fran

Young Scrooge-(10-15)

Young Man Scrooge-(18-22)

Fezzwig-(45-55) College professor. Happy, fun loving, slightly absentminded
professor.

JoBeth-(18-25) Scrooge's first and only love of his life

Pauline-(Mrs.Fezziwig)-(45-60) Wife of Professor Fezzwig

*The Crachit Family*
Barbara Crachit-(40-50) Wife of Bob. Stay at home mom
Marianna-(15-17) Crachit's daughter
Erica-(17-18) Crachit's daughter
Peter-(12-14) Crachit's son
Tim-(9-10) Slightly disabled; Crachit's youngest son
Belinda-(10-12) Crachit's daughter

Agnes-(20-30) Friend of Fran's who is expecting

Steve-(30-40) Husband of Agnes

Fran's Husband-(20-30)

Ghost of Christmas Future (Same actor as Young Man Scrooge)

Harry-(40-60) Pawn shop owner

April-( 30-50) Scrooge's housekeeper

Paperboy-(10-12)

Several  Phantom Children-(10-15) Group of children follow and torment Marly

Caroling children-(10-12) Five children singing carols

Want and Ignorance  (7-9) One boy and one girl.

*Please prepare a 1-2 comic monologue.  Ages 7 to 70!*


Auditions will be Wednesday, September 30th at 6.00pm and Saturday, October
3rd at *4.00pm*  at Emmanuel Baptist Church of Albany, NY 275 State Street,
Albany.

Production dates are December 4th to December 13th at Proctors.
