> THE STORY
>
> One of the most explosive movie musicals in recent memory bursts onto the live stage with exhilarating results. When Ren and his mother move from Chicago to a small farming town, Ren is prepared for the inevitable adjustment period at his new high school. What he isn't prepared for are the rigorous local edicts, including a ban on dancing instituted by the local preacher, determined to exercise the control over the town's youth that he cannot command in his own home. When the reverend's rebellious daughter sets her sights on Ren, her roughneck boyfriend tries to sabotage Ren's reputation, with many of the locals eager to believe the worst about the new kid. The heartfelt story that emerges is of a father longing for the son he lost and of a young man aching for the father who walked out on him.
>
> To the rockin' rhythm of its Oscar and Tony-nominated top 40 score (the soundtrack album reached number one on the Billboard charts and has sold over 15 million copies!) and augmented with dynamic new songs for the stage musical, FOOTLOOSE celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people, guiding them with a warm heart and an open mind.

>
> CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
>
>
> REN MCCORMACK (Lead, Tenor, Strong Dancer)
> Ren is seen as a young rebel always getting into trouble, but at heart he is an energetic young man who is dealing with the pain of his father's absence. He emotes this pain through his quirky sarcasm and by dancing.
>
> REVERAND SHAW MOORE (Lead, Baritone)
> Reverend Moore is the most powerful figure in Beaumont. He is a stern, strict, solemn man with a booming voice who runs the town with an iron fist. However he also has a tender side and is struggling with the loss of his son.
>
> ARIEL MOORE (Lead, Mezzo-Soprano, Strong Dancer)
> She is the preacher's daughter. At first glimpse it would appear that she is the perfect girl; beautiful, perky, energetic. But look closer and you will find that she is her father's worst nightmare. She is energetic, strong willed, and sharp tongued.
>
> VI MOORE (Supporting, Mezzo-Soprano )
> The strong-willed preacher's wife who holds the moral fiber of Beaumont in her upright stance. She feels she is losing her husband and daughter and doesn't know what to do. She ultimately is responsible for holding her family together after its terrible loss.
>
> RUSTY (Supporting, Soprano)
> Ariel's friend. A bit of a ditz but knows everything about everybody.
>
> WILARD HEWITT (Supporting, Tenor, Strong Dancer)
> A simple country bumpkin with a warm heart and a big crush. He quickly befriends Ren and shows him the rules and regulations of living in Beaumont.
>
> ETHEL MCCORMACK (Supporting, Mezzo-Soprano)
> Ren's mother. She is a strong willed, outspoken single parent who would do anything for her son.
>
> CHUCK CRANSTON (Supporting, Tenor)
> A motorcycle riding, foul mouthed, leather wearing hooligan who takes one look at Ren and realizes that there's only room for one bad boy in this town. He is dating the one girl that Ren obviously has a crush on, Ariel.
>
> URLEEN (Featured, Soprano)
> Ariel's friend. The smart one of the group.
>
> WENDY JO(Featured, Mezzo-Soprano)
> Ariel's friend. Soft-spoken but sure knows a lot about Beaumont and the town rules.
>
> LYLE, TRAVIS (Featured, Tenors)
> Chuck's friends.
>
> JETER, BICKLE, GARVIN (Featured, Tenor, Baritone)
> Willard's country friends.
>
> COWBOY BOB ( Featured, Tenor)
> Lead Vocalist at the Bar-B-Que
>
>
>
> ENSEMBLE (Townspeople and High School Students) – The ensemble is very busy as there are several large numbers featuring them. Whether they are the townspeople, leaders of the town, teachers, or high school students, they are vital to creating the world of Beaumont. There are also several featured spoken roles that double in the ensemble as well: BETTY BLAST, PRINCIPAL HARRY CLARK, LULU WARNICKER, WES WARNICKER, COACH ROGER DUNBAR, and ELEANOR DUNBAR.
