FINAL DAY OF AUDITIONS! WEDNESDAY (8/31) in Glens Falls

CASTING CALL FOR

“THE REVOLT: A PLAY IN ONE ACT” BY ELLIS PARKER BUTLER

Glens Falls, NY—Crandall Public Library is searching for actors to audition
for The Revolt: A Play in One Act (1910) by Ellis Parker Butler, to be
performed in Glens Falls on Wednesday, October 12 at 7:00 p.m. in the
Christine L. McDonald Community Room at the Crandall Public Library. The
revolt was performed locally one hundred years ago at the First Baptist
Church in Glens Falls, NY on May 23, 1916.

Casting call will be Monday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 31 from
6:00-8:30 p.m. in the Community Room at the Crandall Public Library.
Sign-ups begin on Monday, July 18, 2016 at the Reference Desk at Crandall
Public Library. When you sign up for your time slot, you will receive an
information packet listing dates and times of rehearsals, and the
performance date. Due to the short rehearsal schedule, all actors must be
available for all rehearsals. Interested actors unable to sign up in person
may email the director, Tisha Dolton, at pdolton at sals.edu.

In the comedy, The Revolt, a militant suffragist infiltrates a school for
young ladies, funded by an anti-suffrage group. Cast of characters
include:Grandma Gregg- Older woman, old-fashioned, founder of a school for
young ladies, anti-suffrage, 50+ years old; Susan Jane Jones- single woman,
militant suffragist, approx. 25-35 years old; Pauline- young scullery maid
looking to improve her lot in life, approx. 17-22 years old; Kate- student
at the school, leader of the girls, approx. 17-19 years old; Grace- student
at the school, second in command to Kate, approx. 15-19 years old; Edith-
student at the school, approx. 12-19 years old; Ida- student at the school,
approx. 12-19 years old; May- student at the school, approx. 12-19 years
old.

Rehearsals dates are as follows: September 12, 19, 26 and October 3 from
6:00-8:30 p.m., October 8, 9 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Due to short production
schedule, all actors must be able to attend all rehearsals.
