CTG Offers Acting Classes
SATURDAY ACTING CLASSES AT CLASSIC THEATER GUILD

Thinking of auditioning for a Shakespeare festival this summer, but nervous about your soliloquy? Or do you have a young performer at home dreaming of Broadway or maybe just the lead in the school play? Sharpen your skills and get ready to shine with a series of acting classes this spring at the Classic Theater Guild studio at 137 State Street in downtown Schenectady! Award-winning Shakespeare & Company-trained actor/director Myka Dassano is offering two 8-week sets of weekly classes, for youth and adults, on Saturdays from February 27 to April 16.

1. THEATER SKILLS FOR YOUNG ACTORS
Saturdays 10 AM – 1 PM
Feb 27-Apr 16, 2016
$250 (second child in the same family, $200, additional children $150 each)
Ages 11-15
137 State St, Schenectady

Open to middle and high school students age 11 to 15, this “Acting 101″ class covers the basics of stage performance: movement, presence, speaking technique, expression, timing, character interpretation, and the fundamentals of theatrical style for various genres (comedy, drama, musicals, etc.). Students should bring a lunch for the half-hour lunch break during each class. The lessons will culminate in a performance on Saturday April 16th of short skits and scenes by all the students. Tuition $250 per student, enrollment limited to 10.  Discounts available for multiple children in the same family.

2. BREAK INTO SHAKESPEARE: INTRODUCTION TO SHAKESPEAREAN TECHNIQUE
Saturdays 2-5 PM (except on March 5, 12 & 19: 4-7pm)
Feb 27-Apr 16, 2016
$200 ($175 if signed up by Feb. 20)
Ages 16-160

Open to all aspiring actors 16 and over, this class introduces students to the core techniques and crucial details of Shakespeare performance. We will emphasize methods for absorbing, understanding, retaining and delivering Elizabethan dialogue, interpreting and portraying character, essential aspects of movement and performance style, and the differences in various conventional approaches to Shakespeare production.   The class culminates in a performance on Saturday April 16th of short scenes and monologues by all the students. In the course of the lessons, each student will master and polish a chosen monologue that they can use for future Shakespeare auditions. Tuition $200 per student, enrollment limited to 10.  Discounts for early registration.
