CAP COM Internships at Proctors
Summer Programs at Proctors 2016
The School of Performing Arts at Proctors offers a full summer of creative and performing arts programs in dance, theatre, music, film and more for a variety of ages and skill levels. Students learn from industry professionals who provide pre-professional training in the arts. Our programs serve ages 6 – 19. Proctors is searching for interns to assist in specific programs this summer. Interns will participate in the curriculum and work with professionals in the field, sometimes learning along with campers and others times taking a leadership role. He/She will work directly with and be responsible for students. They will also have a chance to design and direct the daily activities, as well as assist with administrative duties and safety protocols that are involved with delivering the programs. Each internship is tailored to the intern’s interest, skill set and time availability. College credit is available for all internships. Reports directly to summer Education Program Managers.

Overall Qualifications
•  Completed at least one year at the collegiate level
•  Highly motivated, well organized and ability to take on diverse tasks
•  Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
•  Strong attention to detail
•  Comfort working with and co-teaching 6 – 19 year olds
Summer Theatre Education Internship (2 positions available)
Interns will work with the Education Program Manager to coordinate weeklong programs in musical theatre, dance, and improv for area youth and also assist with aspects of a full-scale production on the Mainstage at Proctors. Students currently participating in collegiate theatre program with experience in theatre education and/or administration preferred.  Should be comfortable coordinating students and leading exercises, with or without another teacher.
Dates: July 11 – August 7
Summer Theatre Production Internship (1 position available)
Working closely with the Production and Education Manager, this intern will gain knowledge of and experience in production administration. Small projects, specific to each production, may be assigned to the Intern. Responsibilities will include: office duties, providing rehearsal support, assisting with budgeting, etc. The production intern will often be called upon to assist in all areas of production, including stage management, props, costume, make-up, and scenery.
Dates: July 11 – August 7

Program Specific Internships:
The Jazz Institute (2 positions available)
•   Preferably a music student with an interest in teaching music
•   Student should be able to lead and conduct small groups
•   Dates: August 1 - 5 & August 8 - 12
Broadway Dance (1 position available)
•   Preferably a dance student or student with many years of various dance experience
•   Student should be comfortable learning routines quickly and in turn, be able to teach and lead learned routines
•   Dates: July 11 - 15
Film Institute and Reel Adventures (3 positions available)
•   Preferably a film student
•   Dates: July 18  - 23 & 15 – 29
•   Proficiency in all stages of production using applicable technologies; including digital media production equipment; filmmaking; Adobe Creative Suite, Final Cut Pro, DVD Studio Pro a must; After Effects, Pro Tools and Motion Graphics a plus
•   Experience in youth/teen programs and staff management
•   Experience working with diverse communities, able to fit into and continue to create a supportive, democratic organizational culture (team-building, conflict management, humor, flexibility, energy and vision)
•   Excellent leadership, group facilitation, written & oral communication, and organizational skills
