*Casting Information*: A cast of six bold actors, 2 men and 4 women, are
needed for this production. This is a fun, fast-paced, wacky farce that
relies on strong physical comedy. We are looking for actors willing to
completely give themselves over to the silliness of this play. Those
auditioning will be asked to read specific scenes from the script. Accents
*are* required for the roles of Berthe, Gabriella and Gretchen. Please
see the character breakdown below for more information.

*The Story*: It’s the swinging ‘60’s. Playboy Bernard juggles his three
fiancées, all flight attendants, with careful planning and the reluctant
assistance of his housekeeper. But weather delays, the invention of the
faster Boeing jet, and an unexpected visit from an old school chum,
suddenly send Bernard’s elaborate love life into complete chaos.

*The Characters*:

Bernard – (early to late 40’s) An American architect living in Paris. He
is handsome, well-educated and charming; a lothario, who thinks he has the
opposite sex completely figured out. Believes it better to be engaged
rather than married - “you have all the advantages of married life with
none of the drawbacks.” A combination of Don Draper (Mad Men) and Jack
Tripper (Three’s Company). .

Berthe – (40’s – 60’s) Bernard’s longtime French housekeeper and cook. Very
devoted to Bernard, but wearying of his revolving door lifestyle; by play’s
end she has been pushed as far as she will go. She is very dry and
fantastically sarcastic; never afraid to say exactly what is on her
mind. FRENCH
ACCENT

Gloria – (25 – 35) Bernard’s American fiancée – A stewardess employed by
TransWorld Airlines (TWA). She is a very passionate woman with an upbeat
disposition. She has a vigorous appetite for both food and love. She is
completely adorable and supremely confident.

Gabriella – (25 – 35) Bernard’s Italian fiancée – A stewardess employed by
Alitalia. She possesses the fiery passion of an Italian female, along with
a casual sensuality. She is much smarter and self-reliant that she first
appears ITALIAN ACCENT

Gretchen – (25 -35) Bernard’s German fiancée – A stewardess employed by
Lufthansa. She is both sexy and aggressive, possessing an intense Teutonic
passion that can turn on a dime. At any moment, she could make love to you
or fight you. She arouses equal amounts of lust and fear in those around
her. GERMAN ACCENT

Robert - (early to late 40’s) – Bernard’s school chum from Wisconsin. He
hasn’t seen Bernard in close to 20 years. He is shy, small-town, moral and
sweet – somewhat of a nerd by today’s standards. He views Bernard’s
whirlwind juggling of three fiancées with awe and admiration until he finds
himself wrapped up in it and his anxiety suddenly spins out of control.
