Schenectady Light Opera Company is pleased to announce auditions for the opening production of our 90th Anniversary season: Irving Berlin’s Annie Get Your Gun. Director: Sky VogelMusic Director: by Catherine Schane-LydonAuditions: June 20, 21, 2016 at 7pmSign-in starts: 6:30pmCallbacks: June 22, 2016 6:30pmTelling the romantic tale of true-life wild-west performing artists Annie Oakley and Frank Butler, this Tony Award-winning fable features some of Berlin’s best known work, including “Anything You Can Do,” “Doin’ What Comes Natur’lly,” and “There’s No Business Like Show Business.”Please prepare 16 bars of a Broadway show tune or similar standard (accompanist provided). Readings will be from the script. Open to all ethnicities.
Rehearsals will commence June 27, leading up to performances September 23 through October 2.
Available roles:
Annie Oakley (20s) – Spirited and fun. A gifted trigger finger, though all thumbs with romance.
Frank Butler (30s) – Handsome, self-assured, man’s man. A decent fellow if a little cocksure.
Buffalo Bill (50s-60s) – Larger than life, old west celebrity. Gentlemanly, kind, eyes full of twinkle.
Charlie Davenport (40s) – Manager of the traveling Wild West show. Quick witted, on the ball.
Dolly Tate (30s) – Frank’s lovely assistant. A little stuck on herself, a little dismissive of others.
Winnie Tate (late teens) – A happy, vibrant young performer in the show.
Tommy Keeler (20s) – Half native-American, half white, all in love with Winnie.
Chief Sitting Bull (50s-60s, non-singing) – Grand old figurehead of the frontier. Warm and wise.
Jessie (14) – Annie’s little sister
Nellie (12) – Annie’s other little sister
Little Jake (10) – The man of the Oakley family.
Foster Wilson (50s) – Grizzled hotelier who first discovers Annie.
Pawnee Bill (50s-60s) – Buffalo Bill’s good-natured rival on the western show circuit.
